Was just thinking then it came to me, I have spent a grand total of £910 on 4 X 7950's, then it naturally occurred to me the cost of Titan@~£900.

While the Titan is cheaper, it can't touch dual 7950's at where and what I play on@1080p, I was shocked that you can get 4 7950's considerably less if you sell on the 9 games that came with the 7950's-£140 cashback essentially should you choose to sell them on=£770.

I'm only sticking with two btw before someone jumps in about QuadFire, as the TFIII is getting DSR'd as it doesn't suit and the DD is getting moved on to a friend.

Food for thought and killer performance at a killer price I say.:D

It's a real shame that XFX don't have better support, some of their products look rather nice. Although I understand the DD cooler isn't the quietest, it isn't 'that' bad, is it Tommy?

Titan isn't marketed to compete with AMD on the multi GPU price/performance ratio though.

It's a single premium card with a premium price point.

Why would anyone want one when you can get better performance for half the price. The Titan is way ahead of it's time, kinda like the Dreamcast was.

There's a lot of people who own them here :). Basically because price/performance is not the only consideration when purchasing.

Also, you can SLI two Titans which will beat everything whereas 3 and above 600/7000 series GPUs don't scale as well...

The DD is one of the best AIB custom coolers let down massively by having a closed heatsink causing zero vrm cooling, the most in the way the vrms get in regards to cooling is a tiny piece of plastic.

Wouldn't have been a problem sitting under an AC Extreme apart from bang goes the warranty:eek: and neutered by voltage locking.

Trixx can get round the voltage, but it doesn't let you apply the usual +1.25v along with zero vram voltage adjustment just lets it down badly.

It cost £200, but I got fed up using 2 seperate oc tools and just went with 2 of the simply incredible Ice-Q's.:D

You would need about 6 of the above to match the performance of my Titans, unfortunately you don't see many mobos with that many slots. Also as you point out 4 way crossfire leaves just a little to be desired and the only place for 6 way crossfire is on comic relief.

As an AMD user myself I should not be so mean about their cards as I am very pleased with my HD 7970s and HD 5970s. The real point of my comments is that the Titan and the HD 7950 both appeal to different parts of the market and your OP does nothing apart from wasting column inches.

Can i have one of your 7950's please tommy. I'm dying to do some frame latency tests on xife. :D

Oh better chuck in a motherboard as well while you're at it. :p

EDIT

Actually just send me your whole pc plox.

You can pay me to do some if you like.

Couple hundred should cover it. That'll be my beer money when I go to Lithuania next month. :)

Very true, there is a place for Titan without a doubt but there's many like myself that prefers BBFB every time.:D

Some people want the fastest they can get and if money is no object, Titan is the fastest. You can't really compare a quad 7950 set up with a single Titan though. As Kaap says, it's a different market really.

It's a moot point though Tommy.
Even with 100% scaling across 4 cards, that's your limit on performance. Whereas you can easily add another and another Titan, the way quadfire scaling is atm 2 Titans would probably beat those cards.

The Titan was never intended to be a pound/performance king.

Tommy in "Price of the Titan" shocker. A whole thread started on it as well...

I did point out that if you sold all the games, you could buy 9 7950's for the price I paid for two Titans. That would be an awesome system :D

As one of my old bosses who had never left England in his life said to me just before I went on holiday to South Africa

"Bring us back a stick of rock please":D

Ha ha.

We do love our sticks of rock from the seaside! Good line though. I think the only rock I'll be bringing back from a lads holiday in Vilnius is rock from the prison that we're thrown in to!

Only kidding, I'm sure it's civilised.

I think its fair game to compare 7950 xfire to a titan. More performance than a titan, £400 cheaper and a load of games to sell as well which would recoup even more money. If the titan wasn't so expensive then it probably wouldn't be fair, but when you're paying the cost of 3x7970's for a titan it has to be exceptional in my opinion to avoid such comparisons in the first place or criticism on its price.

EDIT

I had a dreamcast.

You were "shocked" that you can get 4 7950s for the price of a Titan... despite the fact you and other people have been saying that ad nauseum in Titan threads for weeks now.

Troll thread.
