I finally got hold of my money and I am now looking for a good monitor for my xbox, but there is so much choice out there, and conflicting reviews, that I am having a tough time deciding on what to go for.

I found a Acer G246HLBBID for £140 that has a 2ms response time and seems to mostly get good reviews, but I have had a bad time with Acer in the past, so was just wondering how Acer are now, are they normally a good brand?

Also would like some recommendations

Thanks

Monitor for Xbox

Posted something similar in Monitors section, but no replys and need some help quickly.

I am looking for preferably a 24" monitor for my Xbox, I have looked at what feels like every monitor currently on the market, but there always seems to be conflicting views on each one :(

I have managed to stretch my budget to £180 and I am currently looking at http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-050-AS&groupid=17&catid=510

It has a 1ms Response time, and I heard that Asus have next to no input lag, which I hear is what I need. And a good brand all round.

If you know of anything better for that budget, or know anyone that has this monitor could you let me know there experience with it please.

I have played my xbox on a 7 year old 26" Samsung LCD TV for ages. The ones where HDMI was just being introduced. On paper the refresh rates are awful and the tech is really old, but honestly from all the fancy gear my mates buy, unless you are playing competitively it doesn't matter what you play on, and I cant tell the difference between my old samsung and my mates super gaming screen when the xbox is passed through it.

Any reason you are after a monitor rather than just playing it through a TV?

I play a lot of Black Ops 2, so having every advantage available is good, eg fast response, low input lag.

You might be better off with a small TV, I've always found the image quality of consoles through monitors pretty terrible compared to a TV. You could always connect your PC to the TV via HDMI.

If you don't mind that and still want a monitor then there are some good reviews here: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/

This is what I have heard the exact opposite to, I have been told by loads of people console gaming feels tons better on a good monitor....?

It may "feel" better as most monitors have better response times than Tv's but it will look awful, as I stated. I remember playing GT5 with a monitor and compared to a TV it looked like the game was 5 years older than it was.

If you don't care about PQ and want the best edge playing Black Ops 2 then go for a monitor. Just don't expect it to look as good as it would through a Tv.

I think you will have to bother more about ping than input lag then, back when I was playing CoD4 I had no trouble topping the leader-board with my old gear. I wouldn't worry about input lag and response time, as it pales in comparison to a good internet connection.

But this is just my opinion, other people might have found it gives you a decent advantage.

This monitor is 1920x1080, Full HD. It has 2 HDMI ports, 1 VGA port, and a speaker in, since this monitor has built in speakers. It has a very thin bezel (outline) which is perfect, if I didn't already have my monitor I would buy this one in an instant, just found it, and might buy it anyway, looks really good.

Definitely agree if you want picture quality then play on a TV, I play my xbox on a 46inch Samsung and HD games like forza look great. I tried plugging into my Acer TN panel monitor and although it felt more fluid on black ops 2 it did lose some quality but still looked ok.

What size monitor would you be looking for 24 or 27? I should think if it's 1080p and has a hdmi input it should look good.
