PSU for SLI

Hi All

Probably going to go 680 SLI soonish, I take it my PSU will have to be changed?

I did buy a seasonic x850 not long ago but sent it back as it was making high pitched sound, just bad luck with that one?

any recommendations? Would like it to be quiet obviously and semi/full modular.

and cheap as possible

Yep 850W is plenty, and the Seasonic one is under rated so it can push out more than 850W on its 12V rail.

It's around the same price as the Corsair he's going for and it offers future proofing if he every goes tri sli or whatever...

Can't go wrong with xfx to be honest. I have just bought the 750W pro and it's a great psu. Has the nice flat ribbon cables too.

I have that exact PSU and it's great, I did a lot of research before buying as my last PSU (Coolermaster) went bang. That XFX model if I recall correctly achieved one of the highest reviews ever from jonnyguru.

This is more than the ax series though? I thought ax was better than Hx?

Quite tempted by the 850 xfx, does anyone know how many cables are modular?

On my XFX the Motherboard 24 pin power and 2 x 8 pin pcie are fixed, the rest are modular.

On the 750W Bronze PSU the 24pin ATX, 4/8 Pin EPS and 2x6+2 pin pci-e are fixed. The other cables are all modular. I would imagine that the Silver rated PSU is the same.
