Girl found dead in house with dogs 'out of control'

my 2p, the only reason people 'like' to own dogs like this is the 'im well hard' image...if you wanted a dog as a companion, you would have a dog for being 'well known' to be gentle and non aggressive.

Thing funny thing is, when I see someone (usually a asbo unemployed thug) with one of these things in the street, I don't thing 'hey man cool', I think 'what a nob!'

If one of these dogs was walking towards me with my 20month old I'd be dam scared tbh... as I know to remove one from my sons head would be near on impossible

irresponsible idiots

edit: I suspect some mastiff / staff owner will pipe up to this post, but before you do, think long and hard why you have this type of dog... to impress others, and I'm not impressed... well, other than your stupidity and lack of respect of others safety.

edit ps: these are not pets, these are land sharks... round them up, put them in a field, and bomb the *&^&*(& (to coin Kenny Everett), the world would be a better place

What an intelligent, well-reasoned and agreeable post.

I've never owned a staffie or a mastiff, but I don't think that is a prerequisite for finding this to be a totally moronic outburst.

so your dog as it has a unknown past is even more unpredictable ?, even not being a dog owner I would say this is true

Rehoming a unwanted dog like this even through a act of kindness is still not on.....

Can I ask what you love about these dogs ?, teeth ?, bite ?, image ?

I just hope to god you never let it near children or lose control of it

edit: I would have a issue if you let it within 10m of my children

I love the hardman image it gives me and the way people cry when I walk past them in the street.

Get over yourself, I rehomed him as he needed a home. I didn't care what sort of dog I had, as long as they were a nice dog and were the right size for my home. I love dogs, I have no favourite or specific breed I like, I just like dogs.

I would never lose control of him, as I don't let him off his lead.

He has been near many children and my 7 month year old will stroke him when she is sat on my lap.

He is a big softie, even still I wouldn't leave her alone with him, I'm not stupid.

I've seen my parents neighbor be dragged to the floor and pulled along by two mastiffs... totally out of control

You think I'm a moron ?... maybe to a dangerous dog owner, but put it this way, I almost crapped myself.. and the poor little old lady who attracted their attention almost had a coronary

Apparently they 'didn't like old people' ...pathetic

I've also witnessed dogs who apparently 'dont like children'

These things are lethal weapons...

I hope to god you never regret having a dog like that with your 7month old... I really do, it's lunacy

So do i...

My dog has had part of his ear bitten off by a labrador.

He has been attacked by a Mastiff off the lead and had his stomach badly wounded.

I wish people would keep their dogs on a lead.

Stupid point.

I could pick up a Dachshund and throw it, I could probably do the same with most dogs. But I couldn't do that to a staffie without injury.

Therefore just ban (to the public) every dog that an average person can't control. Nobody is going to miss the ugly things anyway.

Yes your Dachshund will still savage the local children but then a small girl could pick it up and stick it in a bin. Problem over.
Indeed.

Russian hamsters bite more than pretty much any pet known to man (From experience), if aggression was the only criteria we would ban the following creature on grounds of being too risky.

How capable it is of killing is more important than the aggression.

I didn't call you a moron. And I said I've never owned what you term to be a dangerous dog. :)

At 8 months old though, I was gotten hold of by a mean Rottweiler, if that counts for anything.

There are a number of factors that come into play around 'dangerous' dogs, it isn't as black and white as one breed is a lethal weapon and the other is 'safe'. For every owner of a staffie or mastiff that is raised poorly and to be aggressive, there is another with a perfectly docile one.

Is there any evidence that the dog owner is a stupid person?
Is there any evidence that the woman used these dogs as a weapon?

My home town, I know the owner of the dogs. Can't understand why she would have such dogs and so many of them. Didn't know the young girl, but know her relatives. Such a sad loss.

I live two minutes away from here. Awful estate it's the kind of thing you can imagine happening around there. Tragic.

Hag fold used to be pretty bad, but it's certainly not the Hag Fold it used to be in the past when I lived up there from being brought up there.

Man speaks the truth. I would personally love to watch all these dogs be rounded up and bombed sky high. Hate them.

How do you tell the difference ?. When do I cross the street with young family to avoid ?

It's unpredictable, and unnecessary

The issue for me with these dogs is not down to temperement, its due to the fact that if they do decide to attack, there's very little you can do about it. You've basically got something in your house that could, if it chose to (and I appreciate that the vast majority would never chose to) very seriously injure or kill you.

What anyone would want with 4 of them in a tiny house like that one, I'll never understand.

Unfortunately we've got this idea that what you do in your own home is your own business, so as long as its not in a public place, your dogs can be as aggressive and violent as you like. All well and good, until someone else comes into your house.

So, what you're saying then is that if 'Variant X' of some larger group with commonality is involved disproportionately more in an undesirable or dangerous activity than other variants within that larger group, we should be rid of it?

Y/N?
