The Sun to go behind paywall

Wont bother me at all. As i dont buy the newspaper or even go on the site.

For those who do, Oh well.

Are the readers of The Sun really the type who will pay for news online? I have my doubts...

I actually read the sun here and there, even though most of it is full of Z list nobody stories from The Only Way is Essex that i couldn't give a **** about,

But their recent trend of filling their site with Top 10 lists of some rubbish or Vote on this or that list, has turned me away from it completely.

They have been trying to do it for the last few years, it was just a case of working out the best way to do it. If I remember they have been really driving the community aspects of the site and stuff like bingo / fantasy football in order to get people visiting the site regularly.

TBH, the advertising model isn't sustainable so they have little choice. Conversion rate on the Times & Sunday Times is still a lot lower than they would like but I don't know what the overall numbers are.

This does raise an interesting point though.
I used to buy the Sun years ago, then I stopped buying papers and when I stop to think about it, the only time I ever go onto a papers website is when I have followed a link in GD on here.
I wonder how many people actually use the Sun website now or any papers site - surely there are too many other ways to get news that there is now no need to pay?
