Is there any way to backup origin games? I've just had to re-download crysis 3 after swapping drives, I've got the option to save install files ticked but there's no crysis 3 install files, I tried just moving the game into the games folder, exactly as it was before, but origin didn't see it, took 2 days to download it again!
This helped me with BF3 ...
If you are formatting your PC then backing up Battlefield 3 is quite easy. Follow these steps.
Copy or Move the C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 3 folder to another drive.
Format C:
To Re-Install BF3:
Re-Install Origin, then Login to Origin.
Go to 'My Games' in Origin and Right Click BF3 and choose Download. When the download gets to 1% LEAVE THE DOWNLOAD GOING and Right Click the Origin Icon in the System Tray and choose EXIT.
Yes thats right, leave the download going and exit Origin completely.
What you have just done is allow Origin to create the Game Install Path as well as creating all the Registry Entries.
Move the Battlefied 3 backup folder back to its original path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 3
Choose YES if prompted to Merge Folders
Also, choose 'Move and Replace' when Windows asks to Overwrite files.
Now Start Origin again and give it a few seconds to see the files, this is sometimes instant but mostly takes a few seconds to complete, it will then tell you it is 'Ready to Install'. Choose Install and it will quickly finish the installation.
If there is a new Update then the Update will now start downloading.
When any Update finishes, Right Click BF3 in Origin and Choose 'Repair Install'. It may download nothing but it will most likely download another 100MB fix. Either way does not matter but its best to do the Repair Check/Install just in case.
Now your game is ready to play and has Only downloaded a small amount of files compared to the the FULL download.
