I was debating putting this in the CPU section but I think it will get a better response in here... maybe not better quality but there you go ;)

I was thinking about how many CPU cores (physical not virtual) I have at home being used at any one time and was wondering what the average may be on OcUK.... and thus I create this poll.

I have a total of 28 physical cores that are actively in use at any one time :)

I would also be interest to know how you use them. Mine are mostly used for gaming, virtualisation, (soon to be) folding, encoding, coding and general browsing...

Including all computational devices (Phones, consoles and what not... not including cars, washing machines and other appliances)

2 x 8 core servers
1 x 8 core pc
2 x 4 core laptop
not including 2 ipads, nexus7, 4 iphones lol.
obvious question re HT etc, but whatever.

One of the most ridiculous things ever to be competitive over.

Not being competitive at all... I was just wondering what the norm maybe. I have considered my relationship with computers and how much they can dominate my life... I just realised that I have a large number of computers knocking around and 5 years or more ago would never have conceived of having over 6 cores in my house....

10 here. 2 quad core PCs and a dual core laptop. Not sure if I should count my smartphone which is dual core, which would bring my total to 12.

17-24 physical here including the quad core phones. Phones can be counted considering they are PCs once connected to a screen and paired with a bluetooth mouse/keyboard etc.

I have 12 physical cores on my main workstation, and lots more spread about, I think 27 on traditional PCs plus a lot on tablets/phones, but if they can't render, I don't count them.

I am something of a klepto when it comes to PCs though.

Well 8 on this PC.
2 on the main TV.
1 in the Wii.
1 in the xBox.
1 on the spare TV.
Other computer has 4.
iPhone has 2 doesn't it?
iPad has 2 also.

So I guess about 19.
