GB's teen crime commisioner - should she step down?

She's been a silly wee lassie, but everyone's human and makes mistakes - young people tend to make dafter mistakes. Do we really want to live on Daily Mail Island where such mistakes are instantly blown out of proportion and lives suffer as a result?

The fact she posted tweets like that in the first place strongly suggests her unsuitability for the role. The second fact she gets 15k of taxpayers money to do it further nauseates people and quite justifiably.

Would a police officer tweeting like that attract a let's move on response? I doubt it.

I assume you were posting about how racist, sexist and generally ***** you are when you are drunk

well no, i wasn't because i'm not. well, maybe a bit of an arse in my youth but not racist or sexist but still, i know i wouldn't have been suited to a role like this, just like this girl obviously isn't.

To me it just highlights the retardation of anyone using 'Social Media'.

Social media is great. Most people just manage to have a little self control or happen not to be scummers in the first place. Do the people defending this think that this is what everyone i secretly like, they just don't post it on twitter?

What exactly is her job meant to achieve & by what criteria will they judge the success or failure of the entire entire plan?.

The recent elections of local representatives in the police was an utter waste of time & taxpayers monthy imho.

The average person is an idiot & by extension they will choose idiots - call me elitist but I'd prefer people will the required skills & qualifications do these kinds of jobs, not the winnersof "Britains got police")

It's not my preference that the ranks of the police be filled entirely with bland, personality-free, target obsessed drones :)

She shouldn't step down, her employer should consider her postion and decide whether they are willing to accept her as an ambassador.

No sarcasm there although it does answer my query .....

Targets are set by government by the way so your reference to blandness and lack of personality may be misdirected.

Dont even understand why we have a teen youth crime commissioner, what a load of ********.

Someone, somewhere, misguidedly thinks that putting a teenager into an office like that will cause other teenagers to alter their behaviour. It's laughable.

Well technically this is anonymous (keyboard warrior) media, so people can display a much lower threshold of behaviour than we are self righteously holding Miss Brown to :o

I'd hold her twitter feed as being more socially acceptable than OcUK's boobgate thread ;)

Those tweets were posted when she was 14-16. If the internet was mainstream back in 1994 when I was that age, I'm sure I would have posted equally as bad stuff. E.g. kids used to write "Matt 4 Lucy" etc on the toilet doors back in school did they not? People wrote crap on the blackboard / whiteboard / PC-brigade-"chalkboard" did they not? As long as she has learnt the lesson, I don't see the point in digging up her past.
