GB's teen crime commisioner - should she step down?

I doubt they will make her step down, since a senior manager hired her. Firing her would be admission of failure by management which never happens.

What will happen is that they will make all sorts of excuses, then do their very best to make her seem success, to justify themselves.

I've seen this happen in various organisations. Hiring family members to the board, angel investors and VCS backing bad companies.

Its why incompetent people stay in senior positions.

So she is racist because of this?

"why are people from Direct Pizza so difficult to talk to!! IT IS CALLED ENGLISH. LEARN IT.

That makes Ed Miliband racist too then.

"Staff in all publicly funded jobs who interact with members of the public will have to show proficiency in the English language"

In fact that probably makes everyone who has called an Indian (or Scottish tbh) call centre a racist ****head too

Typical overreaction from the liberal-wannabefascist crowd, anything that can be spun as "OMG Racist!!!" is jumped on, you are just as blindly suppressive as the people you seek to denounce.

i suggest you research her tweets. you will then see that your ed milliband example (which i agree with btw) is an invalid comparison.

/facepalm

The taxpayer pays £85k a year to the Kent PCC whether or not there's a Youth PCC. The Youth PCC does not cost the taxpayer a single penny - comprehendez?

do you not think the £15k could be spent better elsewhere? i realise £15k is a drop in the ocean compared to what local authorities waste on unneccesary 'projects and ideas' but this position could've been a great thing, given to the right person.

This movement for these utterly pointless roles in society is nothing more than political PR, I do wish it would end and hopefully due to the utter lack of analysis of the move, it should destroy itself anyway.

I just don't get why it was even considered, even if the position was mildly acceptable as a PR role, she seems far out of her depth for such criticism.

Help me out here, you called her racist, but both me and the Daily Mail have failed to find anything other than the quote I identified.

Please back up your accusation by posting proof of her heinous racism.

Unless you mean immigrants as ‘illegals’ and travellers as ‘******’, in which case I will laugh in your face.

She should step down/be fired. However I suppose the press coverage from her stupidity is generating interest in this Youth PC role (I know I'd never heard of her appointment), and also enables younger folk to identify with her and her mistakes which I assume is part of her role.

I fail to see the point of a teenage Police Commisoner in the first place. What she tweeted a couple of years ago is immaterial, kids will be kids after all.

That's my point of view as well.

The article the OP linked to contains a quote from the real commissioner explaining why this pretend commissioner won't be sacked:

I absolutely do not condone the content and language of Paris' tweets. I suspect that many young people go through a phase during which they make silly, often offensive comments and show off on Facebook and Twitter. "I think that if everyone's future was determined by what they wrote on social networking sites between the ages of 14 and 16 we'd live in a very odd world.

While true, it's irrelevant because it doesn't explain why the "job" exists in the first place. She works full-time - the "teen commissioner" thing is just...what, exactly? Does she do anything at all or is it just a fake position created for political reasons?

Come to think of it, why are we paying people with no relevant experience £100K a year from public money to be real police commissioners?

Pfft, young folk wont give a ****.

They are too busy being drunk and taking drugs.

But any expenses or costs will come from the PCCs budget which is taken directly from the overall Police budget.

just because she's not riding behind the grand wizard, doesn't mean her views cannot be considered racist, bitslice.

i'm not suggesting that she knew fully well how calling immigrants ''illegals'' would come across at the time but it clearly shows which way she swung on the matter of immigration.

this was not the only tweet she made that she has put her foot in things over and i used the word 'racist' in response to a comment from scorza.

finish peter hitchens column and look at post #92

this is one of her tweets. she is using the word racist. In one message she admits "Im (sic) either really fun, friendly and inclusive when Im drunk or Im an anti social, racist, sexist, embarrassing a*******. often its the latter."

Learn something new everyday 85k..what a waste.

I don't buy it, show a lack of discipline on her parents behalf, I knew plenty of people at her age including me that wouldn't have got away with anything like that in a million years.

Right back atcha....

Apparently that is not correct, with a proportion of the salary coming from the PCC Budget and expenses (which includes the use of a Car) coming from the PCC Budget in their entirety. This ultimately costs the Taxpayer. Anne Barnes herself stated that her salary only partially funds the £15k salary of the Youth PCC so there is an inherent cost to the taxpayer over and beyond the £85k PCC Salary......comprende?

In that all the people she represented would identify with her tweets and as such must be racists

Most normal people use shorthand when talking about groups, not all gypsies are dodgy but the shorthand term for them is still ******. Same for immigrants as illegals.
It may not be particularly politically correct but it isn't particularly racist either.

All it shows is that she uses the language of her peer group, ie kids...

Nobody says "that wallpaper is gay, but I didn't mean that in a hateful or exclusive manner towards my fellow humans who choose to express their gender in an non heterosexual manner"

They just say "that wallpaper is gay"

I call gypos, ******, because every time something goes missing out of my garden I've seen a gypo lorry hanging about. I'm terribly sorry that all the law abiding gypos are being tarred with my generalisation, but tough ****.

Jumping over people because they use a common way of expressing something doesn't make them racist or you the hero of the downtrodden people of third world countries. It's just a word.

So some people are racists because they recognise they may have said something racist while drunk?
WTF?
That just means they were drunk and acted out of character FFS.

some real gems there and ftr i'm not trying nor would i want to be the hero of the downtrodden people of third world countries.

and i must say, i've never seen the term ''illegals'' as shorthand for immigrants.
