Hi All,

I am in the middle of rewiring my house and have ran network cables to each room and plan on terminating them into a patch panel in the loft.

I have bought faceplates and RJ45 modules for each room and a 8 port patch panel for the loft, I am about to punch the cables into the modules and patch panel but I am bit confused as to what order they go in.

I have taken pictures of each item, could anyone help me make some sense of them before I make a start;

Instructions that came with modules,

Sorry if I sound like a complete novice but this is my first time doing this,

Any advice would be great,

Thanks, Sam

Get a cable tester if you haven't already got one. A cheap one for about £4 from the rainforest store will do and it will save you a lot of time and hassle.

Thanks for that,

This might sound stupid but from the picture of the jack do you work down or across for 1 to 8,

For Example;
1 2
3 4
5 6
7 8

Or;
1 5
2 6
3 7
4 8

Or am i totally getting mixed up?

Thanks again, Sam

I have purchased one of those cheap cable testers that split in half so you can test at each end of the cable.

Any idea what the bit of plastic sticking out the top of the keystone module (to the right on the picture) is for before I snap it off :o

Thanks, Sam

Ahh okay,

Sorry to be a pain, mrbell, the second picture you posted of the back of the patch panel doesnt match up with what you posted earlier,
