Dom's Laptop is in Iran - An Update

In fact given their location and cultural background in regards to punishments for theft, it's EXACTLY what they'd do.

Very much so, however, I don't think it'd cross over with it having been stolen from the UK.

But either way, people who've had their photos plasted on the internet are hardly going to readily admit that they did steal it, with countless people having seen their faces linked to a stolen laptop.

My wife has talked about this in terms of the UK standards of people - its not just about people's rights its about responsibility.

So someone stole your laptop and now their or whomever they sold a stolen laptop deserves privacy? Since when?

So you go break into someones house and then can sue if you trip on something? or the person cant make you leave forcefully?

why has responsibility been removed from the code of character that the UK says that they have?

It's just weird.

Laptop stolen so sets up a website to generate interest. Gets interest so decides to shut site, apologies and lets them keep laptop.

If it was me I'd want it back. And I would keep the site up until I had it back.

Suffice to say, tonight I shall be at Dom's place stealing all his other stuff. He's too much of a pussy to have possessions

I'm pretty sure I'm not speaking for just myself here but;

1. WFT is Dom
2. Where did he lose his laptop
3. Am I meant to know who he is and about his laptop
4. What is the back story to this, it just seems utterly random and yet people (other than me) seem to be fully gen'd up on it
5. Is it time for a beer yet ?

It's beer oclock in 1hr 25 minutes, Dom had his laptop stolen from his flat in the Holloway Road/Severn Sisters area, it ended up in Iran, he had an app taking snaps of the Iranians using it, his blog got popular, Iranians contacted Dom.

So far, it looks like he chickened out and took down the photos of the new keepers of his laptop and decided to let them keep it (not that there is much he can do, they're in Iran)

If it's been found and he's turned down an offer to have it returned to him I can't see his insurance company being willing to pay out...

Thank goodness on the beer o'clock aspect. The Dom thing is still bothering me though, is he a OCUK user or just some random who's exploits have gone viral ?

Well I have to say the ending to this story of tracking stolen hardware was a real damp squib compared to the absolutely epic story of whatshisname tracking Moley with the help of OCUK and the police raiding his house and getting his phone back. Happy days :) (I was there, wearing out f5).

For that to be true it requires knowledge that the goods are stolen. Do you have any proof to back up your statement?

I'm not a lawyer, but I think in regards to handling stolen goods, ignorance is not a defence.

In the UK you are still guilty of the offence even if you did not know the goods were stolen. (I think. Someone will probably corroborate / refute that shortly!!)

Not sure how that applies in this situation though. :p

By the way, who is Dom, and why should I care about his laptop? :D
