Budget AMD build.

non K version are not overclockable.

Half and half, Celeron/Pentium/i3 chips ar locked, non-K series i5/7's are partially locked, you can OC them by up to 400MHz over their max turbo (plus whatever you can get out of the BCLK) so for the i5 3570 non-K its a max of 4.2-4.3GHz depending what you do with the BCLK, not exactly something to write home about, although it could be enough to outperform an overclocked FX-6300 maybe...

Ok spotting the intel fanboys is easy. Thanks to everyone who decided that a £176 CPU was going to be better than a £100 CPU, I think I figured that out long ago, and believe me if I had £170 for a CPU I'd get a 3570k, but I will probably game about 3-4h a week inbetween family/work/life so I can't justify the extra monies.

6300 it is as I want to O/C and Intel isn't on my radar at the moment. Thanks for the extra ideas of SSD's and other peripherals I will take them into consideration.

6300 is a good cpu, you won't be unhappy. my two cents is if you can stretch the budget at all an 8320 would be good as well

I think your missing what they were saying, they weren't drawing budget comparisons between the FX-6300 and i5 3570K, they were drawing comparisons between the FX-6300 with the motherboard you specified and an after-market cooler (needed for over clocking) versus the i5 with a decent board and stock cooler, and pointing out that there's so little difference in the total price that its well worth the upgrade to the i5.

You can't really say "Please feel free to suggest different parts, etc etc" then complain when people highlight improvements.
