Multiplay Insomnia. What do *you* do when you go, if you go?

Strange question regarding i49, but what is the alcohol pricing in the bar like?

How much for example would these be?

pint of cider
pint of beer
double vodka (straight)
a liqueur on the rocks (tia maria or baileys etcetera)

Do they serve any kind of cocktail? I do like a white rum and coconut occasionally :D

Do they have any kind of reduced price stock for groups of people? (like £1 shots for example)

And most importantly, will there be an OcUK boat race team? You might want me on there, I can usually down a pint in about 5 or 6 seconds :D

They put the prices up on everything for this event, i.e a crate of beer went up by 10 quid from i47 - i 48!!!

Cheers :)

Thats... Yeah thats definitely living up to my worst expectations :D

I think it's safe to say that I wont be buying many drinks in the bar.

And we're not allowed to bring in our own alcohol..?

£3 for 25ML of Malibu... Its £8 for 350ML in a shop... Man I hate pub pricing...

nope not allowed to take your own stuff in, if you get seen, it will be confiscated.

How likely is it to be seen though? I mean really? Do they search your bags when you come back into the hall? :p

Not that i'm planning on bringing my own in... I'm just curious... ... If a few ciders from Asda were to find their way into someones bag... For example

they pat your bags down, sometimes do ask for a look into them too, they also only stock certain brands of beer in cans.

you can get stuff into there, but if it was me, id only do spirits, and id be careful where i was mixing them!

i dont mind just paying for the convenience!

nope, but then you have security inside that would wonder why you are mixing your sports drink with a mixer :P

in all honesty, you could get stuff inside, and drink it without issues, but as i say, i cant be arsed with it to save a few quid.

it does annoy me they have raised the prices by a tenner on a crate of strongbow mind i didnt mind paying 30/35 quid for 24 cans, but 40 quid costs me 120 for the lan before ive even started to think about food!!!!

oh, and to really upset you, the first iseries i went to used to be BYOB :P

It's not that I mind paying a bit extra as such, I can't really afford it. Full time student life = no job, living with parents, having to hitch a lift from another forum member there and back, borrowing a tent, etcetera. :p

I could only afford the i49 ticket because I saw some PC parts going cheap, saw a potential profit, and turned that potential into cold hard cash

I wasn't really going to mix anything... I was considering maybe filling it with scrumpy jack cider or pre-mixed spirits or something  ;)

The booze and food is actually very reasonable.. I think 12 cans of Carslburg was £20 and a meal is under a fiver.

I think you're worrying too much. Book and enjoy the event :)

12 cans of carlsberg for 20 quid isn't reasonable.... Ya can get 30 for 15 quid at a supermarket.... I know they have to make a profit, but they are doubling the prices, just because of the captive audience.

I didn't mind at all when it was 30 quid a crate, yeah carlsberg is only 1 step up from dishwate , but it's what's there.. Then less than 6 months later I go again and there's a price increase on alcohol of over 25% in some instances...

Quite a lot of people I spoke to didn't bother buying any where near what they normally would!

What games do you guys play generally iKettles? I'm not too hot on competitive FPS', I - how you say - suck at them :D

As a group we play everything pal, just tend to go through phases! At the moment we're playing War Thunder, BF3, CS:GO, Sim City, ArmA, Planetside 2 and a few others. We tend to broaden our horizons at iSeries (when we're not in Wetherspoons) for the decent LAN games :)

I know they have to make a profit, but they are doubling the prices, just because of the captive audience. !

Have you been to a footy match or concert? They may not be supermarket prices but believe me they are reasonable for a venue in comparision.

You could say the same for the venue.. It's cheaper to play from home over the internet, but where's the fun in that?

... they might as well charged 10 quid a can then... You shouldn't have the mentalityof oh , other places that have a captive audience rip you off, so why shouldn't they? They are making over 200% profit on a single can.... As I say, it's silly. The amount of people I knew who simply didn't buy any alcohol at the last llan due to the price increase, I reckon it would have benefited them keeping the prices the same.

Someone made a good point on the Multiplay forums though tbh... Maybe they are doing it on purpose to stop people drinking to excess? No doubt though the same morons that get smashed enough to cause an issue would be the same ones that wouldn't care about how much it cost to get into that state.

Also a concert your there for 5 hours, football match 2 hrs... I wouldn't mind paying a bit extra for a few hours, but il be there for 4 nights.... There's a bit of a difference....

However I don't let it overshadow my weekend. il still have fun regardless

You both have a point, yes I agree that the prices are reasonable when you compare them with the prices of alcohol at a concert or a football match, but do they really need to charge so much for it? They are already charging what... 2000 people £92 each for entry, theres no way that each person is going to use £92 worth of power, they are still making a killing, especially when you take into account the profits made from people buying early arrival, raffle tickets, and goodness knows what else.

As davido said, they may be doing it to stop people drinking to excess, but they could pre-drink outside the venue and then finish off inside the venue, they could sneak alcohol in, or they may well just pay the extortionate prices anyway if they are so set on getting smashed.

The event will be fun with or without alcohol, its no great hardship really, but its a bit annoying that they feel the need to charge so much. They could just as easily charge less and refuse to serve you once you get to a certain state.

Vodka in water bottles.

Nah ive got it all sorted :p

Two 500ML bottles of Henry Westons 8.2% Cider in a 1LTR Mitre sports bottle :D

Can pop to Asda and top up when needed ;)

I can't drink straight vodka unless its ice cold with more ice, its also really not the kind of thing to be drinking at a LAN I don't think

Probably not, but I've never been in the situation to have to smuggle alcohol from one place to another and it's the only thing I know xD

Right then, tickets booked, travel arrangements made, seat chosen, clan joined.

Good so far :p

*edit* rejoice. 3K posts :D
