My sister never listens

She had a pristine condition iPhone 4s 16GB. Just got a txt from her telling me that she's sold it back to apple for £220 and bought a Nokia C2 05 for £65 why on earth would she do that

I know she wanted some money, but she's gained £155 and ended up with a rubbish phone

This is a bit of a rant, but I wish she would sometimes ask me first before doing daft things like this.

Has anyone else been in the same boat with a family member or friend doing silly things like this

Some would argue she sold an overpriced rubbish phone in the first place.

It really irritates me when people let stuff go undervalued, and I have the same opinion of people who pay way over the mark for something even though I offered them advice on getting a good deal cheaper.

I have totes stopped speccing people as they never listen to your advise they will go ahead and just go to the nearest retail store and pay OTT prices

I'd have probably tried selling on her behalf to see if I could have gotten her a bit more than £220

If that's a good price then I'm happy To be fair I always thought apple products held their value a bit more than that. Suppose with the 5s coming out it is quite an old model these days.

I would have thought £220 isn't a bad deal to be honest. Looking on eBay they seem to be going anywhere from £150 - £300.

It would have been worse if she had gone and got cash from some of the stupid high street payday lenders, at least this way she freed up the cash using some of her own belongings, which would have just kept depreciating anyway.

Her ebay feedback number is over 4,000 and that's things she's bought, not sold

That's mental! I have been on ebay since 2005 and have 465 feedbacks and that's 99% buying. I thought that was a lot.

It depends on the hassle etc though. Personally, I don't tend to sell stuff on eBay, for instance, as it's more trouble than it's worth. I'd much rather take my phone into CEX or trade in games on the high street as it's quick and easy.

If two comparable shops, both easily accessible, have different prices, then obviously I'll go for the cheapest. Otherwise it's a question of whether it's worth my time to sort out a good deal.

Yes I would agree with that. I'm not a huge fan of ebay, but the shops do give very low prices. That said, now and again Asda gives a fair price.

always a joy to go and see her, (500 miles away) when she has done this, blood coming from her eyes and gums, due to the medication the hospital gives her to counter act the paracetamol.

but answer to your question, I think she got a good deal, although I would have sold it privately.

sorry to hear that. Mine has personal issues from when my gran died and other things, which is why I am always concerned and looking out for her.
