Got raped by Steam

Overslop, you need to learn how to multi quote, rather than posting 18 replies in 29 minutes!

Good luck in getting your trading access reinstated.

I'd hate for my account to be banned like that. Hopefully steam come to their senses, I haven't had to deal with them directly in the past, so I hope they help you out. Saw your steam thread and that should get them thinking. Good luck!

I had an Unusual hat worth about $150 scammed from me by a very clever, organized Turkish scam (one operated by a small cabal of users, perhaps 10 or so of them, flipping multiple accounts). Now, Steam stress that they never get involved with lost items or return any scammed Trades: technically they say that their system involves enough 'are you sure?'-type confirmations for it to ever be their responsibility. Still, it being a massive loss to me, and it also being a clearly well-organized scam (they were stealing $1k+'s worth a week, every week, using a hoax website)... I got in touch.

Long story short, Steam support completely went against their usual policy and re-gifted me the hat. I ended up selling it just fine later that week and making my money; they made an exception for me and were very understanding. I'm sure if you message them patiently and with a level-headed attitude, they will be able to help you, as well. It's not in their interests to ban or punish constructive and contributing members of their community. Several of the people who bought my scammed hat after it was taken from me received polite notices from Steam that the item was being recalled. They generally seem pretty good at handling this stuff... if you can grab their attention, that is.

I could do that but then I wouldn't be 18 steps closer to a lovely new avatar! ;)

Thanks for the good luck!

Nah you seem to have a lot of support Overslop. If that thread gets shut down Valve are REAL stupid O.o

If the thread gains enough attention, im sure somebody will lift your ban, they sometimes do when the support is overwhelming in favour of the customer.

Thread's already gone, but I think it's been moved to an admin/mod area. Might just be wishful thinking though! :p

Still hopeful about my situation but nothing very positive to report on yet.

I don't understand how this thread title exists on a "family friendly" forum. There just seems to be no need to use the term!

Sorry if I offended you, please feel free to report to the mods and get it changed.

What I meant though was number 4 on the list from http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/rape.

an act of plunder, violent seizure, or abuse; despoliation; violation: the rape of the countryside.

It was an emotive expletive, didn't mean any disrespect.

I'm glad you got that issue sorted. It's a lot different to my own but I'm happy they resolved your problem amicably. :)

Has it been deleted or is it being looked into?

I'm not sure, but I believe and hope it is. If it's just been deleted or moved to somewhere nobody can read it then I'm not impressed.

I did catch a glance before the thread was deleted and noticed that on the whole many good folk were sticking up for me.

At the risk of sounding sycophantic, another big thumbs up to 5UB who offered his defense to my cause. Likewise to any other OcUKers who might have done the same but I didn't get a chance to see.

Steam Support is no more. Sad really.

It seems more common now that Steam Support is not support at all.

From reading this thread:

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/sho...php?p=24143434

He posted on the Steam forums and the thread gets deleted.

He contacts the ticket system and the reply is:

Hello,

Unfortunately, we will be unable to assist you further with this issue.

Thank you for contacting Steam Support.

Overslop has been unfairly banned from the trading system, and he has no support given. His posts are either deleted, or ignored, or replied with they cannot help.

Surely someone at Steam or VALVe can help this guy, considering he has done NOTHING wrong.

I expect to see this thread deleted too by a moderator, and no response or reply from anyone from the company. Therefore it is yet again no support, over and over again.

Please resolve this issue.

Pretty disgraceful response tbh - Steam is becoming a victim of its own success. Customer support always has been extremely poor and it is only getting worse it would seem.
