So yea i tried to fit an Accelero Xtreme to my 7970 and its come out bricked :( as seen in this thread http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18471131&page=64
Tried fitting the ref cooler on but no luck.
Option 1: RMA it. Its a VTX3D which is owned by Powercolour and there RMA base is Taiwan :/ and they havent replied to me in 4 days
Option 2: Sell it as faulty. I saw one on an auction site go for £140. Is this achievable with mine you think?
Option 3: Get it repaired.....
Option 4: Keep it as a nice reminder of what idiot i am

Card is 15months old bought from OcUK

Thanks guys

1. Could have used OcUK to rma it, but you don't have much chance now, or just wait for reply.

2. Pot luck, might get £60 for it though(better than nothing).

3. Is it worth it as a used/ridiculously cheap 7950 with the game bundle is probably cheaper in the long run if the 70 was to break again a few weeks later, chances are the repairer would say something else went boom.

4. Horrible memories.:(

Try emailing [email protected]

Explain the situation, just say you switched on one day, and it's gone dead.

TUL had an RMA centre at Antennestraat 76, 1322 AS Almere, Netherlands; not sure if it's still there, or if they have a telephone number.

when I contacted powercolor about my 6970 they said the etailer takes care of this sort of thing for the full 2 years , they also said that they only deal with the reseller and not the buyer .
that was 18 months ago though so that could have changed , did you email VTX3D or powercolor ?

but I think you have not got a chance seeing as you tried to fit a cooler though

Does anything look burnt on the PCB? You said you saw a puff of smoke? Tried the backup BIOS?

No, there was no puff of smoke. I dont know but on the back of the PCB it looked sorter cloucdy on some bits but i dont know if it was already there ill post a pic up in a minute

Notice the slightly cloudy stuff all over?

I bought a 580 once that had clouding all over the pcb much whiter than that and it worked fine - are you sure it wasnt there before?

OCUK do the RMA for VTX3D for the first 2 years iirc?
Give it a clean, slap the old cooler back on and send it off for RMA, my VTX card took just under a month. Mine had aftermarket cooling put on and it was clear as day the cooler had been removed, still got accepted though.

Edit: Or make it into a keyring :D

does that card have a dual bios switch? itll be by the crossfire bridge tabs,if so try flicking to the backup bios,if it shorted theres a possibility its borked the bios and you can boot from the backup one

that clouding lookslike finger prints/marks to me?

Ref cooler is back on and mx-4'd up and ready to go although there is a screw missing. Surely they will see this thread and think nah?!

Definitely not fingerprint marks.

The PC wont even switch on when this card is in. Would a borked BIOS do that?

I will try!

Take card out and enable onboard gpu for the 2500k! Boot to windows and sort drivers out, make sure everything ok. :)

Shut down and plug card in and boot make sure bios is set for onboard gpu!

If you hit windows check your hardware manager see if the card appears!
If it does not you out of luck! But if it does flash the bios and see what happens from there! ;)
