*** The official HD 7990 review and discussion thread ***

When that video is at full speed, it is clear that stutter is present. I watched the left and then the right. I see mass improvement on the right. No idea why it would be at 25fps? Seems rather daft to do that.

I'd get two 7950's, add the accelero coolers and clock the onions off them. :)

Its performance is on par with 2x7950's, so PCI-E lanes and PSU allowing, that would be a wiser move and far cheaper. A review from PCPerformance put the 7990 at 5-7% lower than CF 7970's.

Yes that's right.

The video is still at 25fps though isn't it? That's what someone said in the comments anyway, i don't know if thats correct.

I find it odd that no one playing battlefield 3 here or on oc.net notices it. It only gets picked up in these reviews. Its baffling.

My fraps says video is 35fps but not sure if that's true,

But either way I'm not really into judging performance on these comparison videos you really need to be playing them to get a real idea.

They have comparison videos for battlefield 3 maximum settings vs minimum settings and if they look just the same but in real life the game looks like 1000x better on max settings.

thats only the estimated launch price,i remember 7970 launch prices being very high compared to what they are now

give it a few months prices are bound to fall, esp if no one buys them

Or could go the opposite direction.
Titan has a RRP of £829 yet the cheapest on OCUK is a few pence under £1000 ;)

Reminds me of the old 3dfx 30/60 video, the 30 seemed to stutter, I seem to recall at the time some video type claimed it was only because it was shown next to the 60 or some such,no idea myself

Why would they rush release this card now when the new driver is looking so promising. The reviews would have looked so much better had they waited. Stupid IMO.

I am disappointed by this card

High Price
Frame time problems
Poor xfire support for popular games
Something not right when overclocked

Everybody who uses graphics cards needed this card to be top notch at a good price.

Are AMD really saying they can not put two HD 7970s on a single board and flog it for less than £600 when they can churn out HD 7950s with free games for not much over £230 each.

The worst part about it is if the HD 7990 had been around since last May and Nvidia were launching the GTX 690 now, the reviewers would be saying something along the lines of "we have some reservations about the 2gbs per GPU of vram but otherwise all round the GTX 690 beats the HD 7990 hands down including the price"

Graphics card pricing really has got ridiculous and with this release it only compounds the issue.

I remember when I bought my 3870x2 on release day for ~£350 and thought that was a bit on the rich side, these prices just make my eyes water :(

It may or may not have started with the Titan but it will end with the HD 7990, it is not going to fly off the shelves like the Titan did. Not for £860 a go.

Why do you say that? people who want the best will pay for it like all the rest.

Blah blah blah Titan Blah blah Expensive Blah blah.

Blah blah AMD stupid for following nvidias example Blah.

Yes you are right

That's why they are going to go out and buy two HD 7970s and clock the nuts off them and still have change for some decent waterblocks.

This.

7990 hasn't lived up to the hype that this forum was giving. I expected better but sadly it isn't.

AMD missing an opportunity to miss an opportunity again.
