Howdy,

I originally budgeted for a £600 system, but I'm already £300 over that, so I was wondering if I might aswell get an SSD aswell for the o/s and main game (FM2013)?

I'm not sure how much space windows 8 will take up, but I'm guessing I'm looking towards a 60/90gb SSD to be comfortable?

I've seen the Kingston hyperX 3k, would that be one to get?

yes its worth it!!!

go for a 128gb minimum imo, unless your board supports caching? then a 60gb is fine

z68/77 support caching where you use a 60gb ssd to speed up a large mechanical hdd

Samsung are a good choice for ssd's next would be a crucial

Yes, A must in any system.

My old AMD athlon 64 build benefited hugely from just a Sata2 SSD. Any new build will have noticble benefits from a Sata3 SSD

Yes! Absolutely. :)

Get the biggest one your budget will allow. I suggest 120GB minimum. They soon fill up.

My first was a 128GB M4 and since bought a 256GB M4.

The way my budget has gone I might aswell go for 120gb, I've already got a 1tb HDD to go in it.

I'm curious about using an SSD to speed up a HDD, how does that work/happen?

if you have a z68/77 board you can choose any 60gb ssd

if not youd need a caching ssd wih its own software and tbh your better off putting the os on a regular ssd

it works by storing the most used data on the ssd from your hdd,you set to raid and enable acceleration for the hdd,the os needs to be on the hdd aswell

it works well kinda like a huge hybrid hdd

I've got an AMD 8350 FX with a Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 so I'm guessing that might affect the ability to cach? But it sounds like I'll be more than happy with an SSD, I'll go for the 120gb and maybe have 2/3 current games on there.
