The Official Iron Man 3 Thread ere

If this is as good as Iron Man 2 and Avengers then I'll probably like it. I'm probably in the minority, as I never liked Iron Man 1 much, mostly because I thought the villain was weak (sorry Jeff Bridges) and the plot and action was a bit lame. I found Iron Man 2 better because I found Mickey Rourke to be a better villain, and the action was more fun. From the looks of it so far The Mandarin looks like a good villain and the action seems decent, so I might like this!

My son's 5 years old and is on at me all the time about taking him to see the film. He's seen all of the other Marvel films via Blu Ray at home. I'm torn between making him really happy and taking him along vs being judged. Anyone thats seen the film any feedback on your thoughts please ?

On a side note, until recently I used to curse films for being dumbed down for a lower rating for a larger potential audience, now my son is getting aware of Marvel etc my opinion is changing to I'd like more kiddie suitable films. It's frustrating when the tie in toys/film adverts are pimped all over the place.

Just got back, fantastic film, at this point in time I would put it above Avengers. Make sure you all stay till after the credits, everyone did besides 4 people, suckers!!

well just got back from the cinemas after see this it was very good indeed. not going to give any spoilers way but i will say this watch it to the very end after the credits as it makes the whole intro scene to the movie make sense.

What would be the chronological order to watch the previous marvel films in, before seeing Iron Man 3?

No real spoilers below, just the sort of violence etc you should expect

Plenty of gun fights and visible shootings/deaths, an off screen execution, a bit of mild torture, a few graphic shots of bodies looking fairly worse for weather. It's definitely more violent and "deathy" than Iron Man 1, 2, Avengers etc. Obviously not the focus of the film though since it's all done in a typical extravagant action movie way and you move on a couple of seconds later

Depends how much of a pussy your kid is I guess :p There was a girl that must have been about 6/7 in front of me though and I thought on a few scenes it might be a bit too much, depends on their disposition though!

Yeah, you definitely have to have watched Avengers before IM3. You probably wouldn't have had to seen IM2, but should have watched IM1.

My thoughts on the film are below, and contain MASSIVE spoilers, so if you haven't seen it, don't read.
I actually quite liked this one, the mandarin twist was slightly predictable but nice. Killing whatserface wasn't at all surprising, the Pepper twist was again predictable, but I'm still not really sure how I feel about gwynth so not sure whether I liked her having such a world saving roll. Iron Man seemed much more mortal this time. I liked the twist regarding the Vice President. Managed to miss Stan Lee, if someone feels like telling me where he popped up.
There have been rumours that this will be the last Downey Jr Iron Man as his contract with Marvel is up after this film. Whilst the director said otherwise I'm not so sure. RDjr has been a very good Iron Man, but this certainly almost felt like the end. What with the clean slate, and the way the Marvel ending was based around him talking to Bruce Banner but all about the 'listen' concept - very much liked that btw.
I hope it isn't the last Iron Man film. Whilst Downey will clearly return in Avengers (2?) I expect, I feel like he deserves a better final film for iron man, and I'm not quite sure this was it. Yes, it was very good, a good superhero film, and I liked it. It just didn't quite blow me away.
