Got raped by Steam

Hijacked account -> Hijacker -> Overslop -> Tradee

Hijacked account gets all items back
Hijacker (First person who receives the items off hijacked account) banned
Overslop refunds money to tradee
Tradee doesn't lose out on anything

This makes more sense, Overslop will lose out, yes, but at least he wouldn't be banned, and the person who actually hijacked the account would be the only one made to suffer.

You're making a pretty huge, and probably flawed, assumption there. I would assume that the hijacked account would have traded directly to Overslop to avoid this issue in the first place. Or if not the items would have been traded to an empty account made purely to act as a mule, so banning it wouldn't do anything.

It's extremely unlikely a hijacked account will trade directly to people, it may well be a mule account though, but IP log-ins from Steam can easily identify the actual account that the mule was for.

WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! :D :D :D

Get in!!!!

Got unbanned today - sooooooo pleased and relieved! :)

A big thanks to all here who were supportive of me. I'm going to do a little payback and give some games to the good people here at OcUK. Least I can do really. :)

As long as they are not from hijacked accounts :D:D:D

Glad to hear it was sorted in the end. :)

Maybe there is a bit of support after all, but you have to try really hard to get it. Hopefully they can work on it!

Hahaha! :D

Seriously though, in the response where they unbanned me they said they had removed all the stolen gifts and items from my account. Haven't noticed anything missing though.

Fantastic result mate :)

I woudl ask them which items they've removed, if they ask why say it's so you can work out who you traded them with and so you can avoid trading with them in future. Did they even apologise for the runaruond they gave you?

With so much junk in yer inventory it'll be hard to notice what's gone lol :p
I'll store some of the junk for you if you like ;) :p

So what's all this trading lark then on Steam? I've been living under a large rock throughout the last decade obviously. I use steam to buy games yes...I own said games... how can I then sell these on to people if they are already activated? Surely they are worth nothing? Yes I'm a noob. Ridicule me.

It is not intended as you think it is.

You cannot trade everything and the games which can be traded cannot be tied to an account.

That describes it in more detail.

I've said it before and I've said it again, but this man 5UB is a living legend.

I don't know the reason for getting the ban overturned but 5UB made great efforts to help fight my case. If I ever meet the man in real life, I will owe him a few drinks. :)

I intend to ask them but I doubt very much to get solid information. No apologies and no specifics given still other than I received items which had been hijacked from an account(s).

I'm going to quit buying items for real money since it's just too risky it seems. Just so relieved I've been given the chance to trade away the stuff I've worked hard to get.

As gimpymoo said, once you've activated a game then it's yours forever. If for instance though you buy a 4-pack, then you can trade away the extra copies as you please.
