I fitted the EVGA Titan and when running an application that maxed out both the 3930 cores and the Titan using CUDA, my system would power down after 2 - 3 minutes.

Everything was OK when doing the same when I had the GTX570 installed.

I had a look at the voltages using the ASUS monitoring tool and saw that the 12V rail was only punching out 11.44V under load. 2 X 12V rails

The old PSU was a G7 Modular Power Extreme 850W.

I swapped it out and fitted a Corsair CX750M ( 1 X 12v rail ) and my system is again rock solid. the 12V rail kicks out , guess what, 12V under load.

All's good and the worried frown from thinking something was up with the Titan is gone :D

In my defence :o I usually upgrade my kit in stages. I did have a 650W psu which died and the only semi decent PSU near me that I could get my hand on that day was a 1000w Maplin special which was dead on unboxing. The next best thing was the G7.

Even though it was cr*ppy the power demands were not high enough to show up it's failings.

Anyway - I'm off to play Trackmania at the higherst possible settings :D:D

I'm not saying a decent £60 PSU (as linked) wouldn't be good, I perhaps should have put '£60 850w PSU, WHAT!!'.

Though you would normally associate top end parts such as the Titan & 3930K with other high end parts especially the PSU :)

Well, £60 is enough to get a decent branded 650W PSU if found the right deal...

Titan is powerful yes, but it is far from power hungry comparing to the older high-end cards (think Titan consume 265W max?).

If the CPU is overclocked, that'll pull more watts than even the highest overclocked titan. The 3930k can pull some crazy wattage from a wall socket.
