How Hard are You?

I'm a complete panzy :( Never been in a fight, always nice to people, don't even like to argue on the internet :(

However, I would like to think I'd man up to protect the wife n kids :)

id like to think i could defend. ive been in a fair few scrapes for one reason or another and was a kickboxer for many years.

all the training ive had i wouldnt really use in the real world, if i ever come up against someone i would go straight for a kick in the nuts, guaranteed to take any man down.

I grew up in a dodgy part of the Midlands & almost every single fight I've known about (which friends had gone in) usually ends with what would be a normal fight turns into one of the following.

1 on 1 - becomes 1 on 7 quickly (putting the boot in).
1 on 1 - becomes 1 with a knife on 1.
1 on 1 - becomes 1 on 1 with a hammer & 5 others (that friend had to have re-constructive facial surgery)
1 on 1 - becomes 1 on 16 in which they put the persons head through a bus top windscreen.

Been in a couple of scraps, but nothing too serious - never once had what you would call a "fight" - it's always been at least 5 vs 1 so it's been more damage mitigation.

I have no idea how I'd do in a real "fair" fight.

Reminds me of one of my friends - he got attacked & mugged by a group of 7 people on the way home in the local park - when he got home he noticed he had a tooth missing & his favourite shirt was ruined..., so we went out with a snooker cue - found the ring leader alone & smashed out half his teeth lol...., next time he saw him he tried to suck his teeth at him (it didn't work).

Shouldn't laugh as it's pretty tragic.

Should always back down and aviod if possable is what i used to teach :) If your a gaint wimp and are thinking of a form of self defence i'd reccomend combatives, its real its non fancy and it works, im not touting for bussiness like i say i dont teach it anymore but its bang on :)

ps the guy that says he's hard 9 times out of 10 is'nt ;)

Not hard at all. Had quite a few situations, been punched a few times, thankfully I was drunk and it didn't really faze me, was youngest of four and used to fight with brother a fair bit, always got beat so must have given me a complex, I'm like jelly inside if it comes to any kind of confrontation now.

Refused to see a doctor for over a year throughout repeated attacks of what is now confirmed to be gout -- because "it'll go away on its own".

NAILS.

In fightin' terms... meh, not a fighter. Would obviously do anything I had to if the situation arose, but haven't been in a proper one-on-one fight in about 16 years. Been mugged, assaulted etc. but always by gangs -- in which case, as elmarko says, it's all about damage mitigation and just being smart. No point in fighting back.

Used to be a complete and utter wimp. Still never had the need to have a full on fight as I can talk myself out of most any difficult situation.

I know now though if it came to it I could more than hold my own against average Joe. Been training in Crazy Monkey Defence (CMD) for the last 3 years (before that doing traditional Ju-Jitsu for 18 months). A very new, functional and modern form for martial arts. My physique is at an all time best, I've gained confidence in myself, which has helped progress my career and I've learnt a lot about self defence.

Can't recommend it enough.

elmarko sounds like he came from some bare scary ends innit  , would NOT want to mess with a lot of the gangstas present in this thread, blad.

I love the way 90% of people in this thread think they can handle themselves :P I'm pretty sure that guarantees that they can't

The best ones are the "I'm 5'5" and never been in a fight but that just proof that I'm well hard because no one picks on me" or the old "I've never been in a fight but I have a temper on me and you wouldn't want to see me angry"

So we have those that are so intimidating that no one would dare start, then we have those that are basically the incredible hulk.

I've never been in a fight and never been that close to it either but I think if I came out on top it would be more luck than judgement. Its usually pretty easy to talk your way out of any situation like that anyway.

Most of the people I know got attacked either on the 126 route or around Bearwood in Birmingham.

They're only hard up in Glasgow. :p

Personally I abhor fighting, it's uncivilised and unwarranted. I've been in a couple and can hold my head up high, but given the choice I'd never fight again in my life.

Bloody barbaric.
