Just like Expendables and Battleship.

Movies like this don't need plotline, I'm watching it to see giant mechs knock seven shades out of giant monsters.

looks like good fun! and i echo the above, i love it when people get all high and mighty/intellectual about films like this. Their loss. They are just good fun, nothing more , nothing less (Battleship,Transformers e.t.c.)

Being Del Toro, I'd hope it was better than either of those though.

Del Toro has brought so much more than that to all out fantasy films so I would be expecting more as well as all of that, Hell Boy2 is one my fav films from him so expecting a little more from the characters etc.
Plus it has Pearlman in this!

Battleship in particular was terrible. I'm fine with light fluff if it's executed well and isn't full of gaping plot holes and gaffs, but even with content of Pacific Rim, I'd expect it a solid film given his prior output.

Yea but Battleship is what it is, and it was completely dreadful, even for a no brainer fun film. Cant just throw a load of CGI at a film and hope its enough.

It wouldn't surprise me if all the action scenes were in the trailer already and the actual film is dire like a lot of action movies that rely on cgi

Yea, but a reason why they have Jet powered fists and whos controlling them need SOMETHING of a story behind them, im not asking for much, just something I wont rip apart in my head as im watching huge skyscraper robots fighting monsters!

If you are thinking about the intricacies of the plotline while huge skyscraper robots are fighting monsters you are doing it wrong


Also, Battleship was brilliant for an all action, who gives a crap about physics and plotline movie... because anchor turn battleship salvo.
