How many is bad? I bought some to snack on at work, and ploughed through 12 in less than 3 days.

Other than the acid eating away at my teeth, is it bad to nom 4 or 5 apples a day? Or should I switch back to snacking on biscuits and cakes?

Edit: actually, just worked it out and its more like 15 on 3 days.

They have a fair bit of sugar too so I wouldn't overeat too much, but cakes are probably worse xD

I eat when I'm bored, so thought buying a bag of apples would stop me nomming biscuits. It has, but I've nommed all the apples instead :D

I also post on OcUK when I'm bored... :p

A big bag of apples (6-8) is an alright snack. Anything in moderation, more than a bag a day might be a little overkill.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away. 4-5 a day for the next week and you should be sorted for a good while! Keep close to a loo though ;)

In the quantity you are eating them in, I think you need give your teeth a brush in work - just once should do it

Apples do have natural sugars in them, which can damage the enamel on your teeth, so if that sugar remains - or is topped up as in your case - you might run into issues. Giving your teeth the once over after lunch or mid afternoon wont do any harm (I dont think)

Also apples contain between 50-100 calories each (dependent on size/ weight) so they are not as diet friendly as people think!

Variate your snacking with other things that are not as sugar packed - raw carrot, celery, cucumber - and you wont be putting your teeth or your waistline in trouble :)

47 calories per apple, but I'm not bothered about that, I'm not on a diet. I just need to stop eating whatever random junk food is about.

I'm really annoyed I don't like bananas as they are the perfect snack food. I will mix it up with some other stuff if its just the sugar on my teeth I should worry about. Trouble is, healthy snacks are so dam expensive. Apples were a bargain at £2 for a bag of 7 or 8.

According to the daily mail, scientists have discovered they cause cancer and cure cancer but give you the trots.

The seeds have cyanide in them so if you've been eating those you're doomed.

Its not bad for you to eat loads (in a nutritional sense), but you will probably feel sick.

Goes with any fruit (and I guess any food), eat loads of it at any one time and you won't feel great.

I know for me particularly, if I eat a lot of fruit like apples, the acidity makes my stomach hurt a lot.

Carrot sticks then :) You can buy a huge bag from Tesco (Carrot Batons) for 50p-£1

Tis a good alternative - esp if you get a tub of humus too ;)

Edit....omonomnomnomnomnom humus....nom.....
