Good advice there...

I would start keeping a record of everything that’s being said in a diary, Time... Date... and a brief note of what was said & who was present at the time... This way if the matter does become more serious at a later date with HR. "The manager in question will be caught completely off guard & speechless"
 
She is doing it publicly so your wife needs to let her know publicly that she doesn't appreciate her comments. Next time she says something your wife should just speak up and say'

'Excuse me but I don't appreciate your jokes about my baby weight and I'm starting to find them offensive, I think you should think more carefully about what you say'

Job Done, no more issues.

Going straight to HR may be a bit ott and could ruin a previously good working relationship. A firm verbal message is all that's needed here.

Depends on the motive of the manager. If they are being deliberately unpleasant, for your GF to approach her and get upset might provide more ammunition. If she is unlikely to be able to have a composed discussion then it may be better to send a short email to express her concerns. This has the benefit of being slightly detached - both from your GF's point of view but also for the manager - and, more importantly, provides a written record that your GF has attempted to resolve the matter informally. That could be crucial if nothing changes and it proves necessary to approach HR.
 
Maybe just a friendly banter that she doesn't really see as offensive/hurtful? Just have a quick friendly talk about it
 
Take a dump on his desk and make out he likes to poo in his office, that'll be the new joke for the rest of his life, pooey pants manager they will call him, he will pay for his crimes.

Get your mrs to ask the manager for a quiet word. Tell her that her comments are upsetting her. She may just be teasing and not realising that she's getting to her.

If it happens again after talking to her, HR.

Going straight to HR seems brash.

I was beginning to wonder how people had missed that the manager was female, I know people don't always read the whole thread but I hoped that reading the first post would be a given...
 
You should get the manager pregnant, then in 3 1/2 months time when your MRS has given birth and is nice and slim again you can all call the manager fat.
 
Have sex with her boss and don't use a nodder. She is either jealous and wants a baby too or she's just mean and a fitting punishment would be to make her pregnant. Make it so...
