Hi guys,

Basically my problem is that after every shave (dry rotary shaver) I get inferno like skin irritation :( I currently use Nivea balm for sensitive skin but its not doing much tbh...
I didn't shave for 2-3 years just used to trim my hair down... So my skin is very weak and sensitive... Does anyone know anything that will soothe the inferno on my face apart from sitting in front of a fan which I already do :D
It has been getting better the more I shave... but waking up every morning knowing whats going to come after is very daunting.

So I am looking for some very good balm that will at least ease my pain while my face skin gets used to new shaving routine.

I would just add that the shaver itself isnt bad at all... It doesnt pull the hair at all and feels absolutely normal its just when you are done the face sets on fire.

Thanks

Taylor of Old Bond Street, "Shaving Shop" aftershave gel/balm.

Or just spend a couple of quid on some generic Witch Hazel from a chemist.

You want to be looking at the shave/prep itself rather than trying to minimise the effects of the damage afterwards.

Wet shaving is un-bearable for me :( I tried all razors they keep pulling the hair... hurts like hell and even more irritation.
ALL razors? I assume you're talking about cartridge razors which are pretty rubbish and will produce the symptoms you've described. Get yourself into the Manly Shaving thread and pick up a DE (safety) razor. It'll take a little getting used to but with a little effort, all your problems will vanish.

I had a full beard for years and went straight to a DE razor with no problems at all.

Or he was just using a rubbish brand/type that just doesn't work for him - despite the hype I've never found gillette do anything but rip my face to ribbons for instance whereas wilkinsons sword work really well for me.

With all of the generic multi-blade wet shavers it's critical that you constantly rinse the blade (after each 'swoop' if needs be) so that it doesn't clog up with hair, otherwise it will have the effect of essentially ripping the hairs out.
