The Banter Thread

I know where you are coming from but I would imagine the idea is that by punishing clubs for racist behaviour you force them to take it seriously and adopt a strict internal policy.

What I am getting at is, over the years there have been teams with a reputation for racist behaviour from their fans and the very fact they have a reputation implies that the club hasn't been stamping down hard on it enough. What the authorities want to promote is a culture of self-policing whereby clubs will simply ban supporters for inappropriate behaviour irrespective of whether the media/authorities get involved. Some clubs have proven by their inactions that they are not that bothered about it so the fear factor gets introduced.

Of course there are lots of issues, I mean what's to stop a fan from club X turning up to a club Y match and being racist to try and get them punished. Which is why the bans need to be universal, people found guilty should be banned from all club grounds not just where the offence took place.

Some Everton related news for everyone... from the Shareholder Association

... We are therefore very disappointed to announce that we have failed to convince the Board of Directors to voluntarily convene a General Meeting and will soon notify the Company Secretary of the Everton Football Club Company Limited that we have secured the necessary mandate from the shareholders and require that the Club proceed forthwith to convene a General Meeting.

Basically they've been trying to get an AGM going again after the club cancelled them after the last EGM, which was to do with Kirby I believe and everyone got slaughtered and the board couldn't face the fans so cancelled the General Meetings. The board haven't been very forthcoming because they're ******s and most probably a bunch of crooks, so this is a step in the right direction, and good news that more prominent Evertonians are trying to get some form of transparency out of the club.

And in more news, I think I posted this not sure though but this is rumoured to be the new badge / crest. Which has been trademarked to be used under everything you can think of in a football club, from merch to tea cups and of course replica kits.

I don't think I need to say anything about this complete massive turd but yeah a lot of people are worried. A few people on GOT have emailed the club / Elstone trying to get answers, and so far two people have had answers back... which are exactly the same.

Thank you for your e-mail.

As our fans have come to expect, we are consistently looking at ways to develop and progress the Club.

Fans know that our work is diligent and consultative.

They also know that we will update them, on all matters, as soon as we can. We will remain true to both principles.

Regards

Everton Football Club

If you ignore the lies of every sentence and just take the words as what they are then it sounds like they've near enough made up their mind. Next season will be fun!

Daily Mail also running with the story in tomorrow's paper. Not like that adds any credibility to the story though. :D

Well in the betting thread it was mentioned that there are some strange odds around to do with Moyes and the next Utd manager.

Yeah Paddy Power slashed the odds over the weekend after a large amount of bets were put on him to be next manager.

All I can say is, don't worry too much Everton fans... I was worried when Gus Poyet was 1/10 to be the next Reading manager at one point!... I was a little less worried when he was 1/8 to join Sunderland a few weeks later;)

Moyes would have a heart attack when he's shown the transfer budget. Would take him a year at least to get out of poverty mode in the transfer market.

Seems to be gathering pace, Moyes to ManU and Martinez to Everton

Go jump off a bridge.

Wouldn't be too bothered if he went, he deserves it in a way, not the United job per say but a bigger and better challenge and it would be interesting to see where we went and the competence of our board, as long as it's not ****ing Martinez.

Isn't the current rumour that Moyes is going to Man Utd to study under SAF for a year, then he'll retire?

I don't mind Moyes but I don't know if he's our man...

i would find it so funny if mourinho was the next united manager,he did look very comfortable at old Trafford during the champions league game.I just hope this doesn't back fire and we get benitez :O lol

Better get this in before we know one way or another but all I'll say re Moyes is he's done a brilliant job at Everton to keep them where they are given the comparative budgets those teams around Everton work on, that achievement alone isn't quite worthy of the huge leap of faith it would be for him to get a job as big as replacing Fergie though

I agree, it could go really well but it might not. The job is absolutely huge though, there's no manager that could comfortably take it.
