Best Controller Ever?

D-pad aside, the 360 controller is pretty much perfect as an ergonomic study... and yet I have grown to prefer the DS3. Had to fit new triggers to it though. The PS4 controller looks very promising.

I think the Wii Remote and Nunchuk combination deserve mention too. Even if motion controls aren't your thing, there is a lot to be said for the comfort of a controller made of two pieces.

360 controller, by a country mile.

+1 it's the best to date and there is no arguing that it isn't.*

I hope they don't change it at all (D pad changes are fine as i don't play crappy games that need it to be the most precise action ever), most comfortable control ever made :D

The d-pad complaints aren't about people being picky, as you slightly suggest by saying you don't need it to be the most precise action ever, it's more like sticking some buttons on top of a Victoria sponge would be more precise. For fighting games or any indie platformers/shooters it is utterly useless, the 360 pad in general though is absolutely glorious.

If we're going for controllers from previous generations then I'd either go with the Dreamcast controller or the Dual Shock from the original Playstation. :)

Gamecube or DS3(Yes I know everyone else spits on it, but I dont have any of the problems others have)

Not a fan of the Dpad on the 360 pad, so it loses out due to that.

One thing I never get is why people say the Xbox pad is better because of the left thumb stick, why is it alright for one thumb to be in a low position but not both, I have both an Xbox and PS3 and have never once felt like there was a problem with either consoles' stick position.

The triggers on the other hand are better on the Xbox pad, but it seems like Sony have fixed this for the PS4.

I don't play fighters, and the few shooters i have work fine with it, i do understand it's the worst feature and can easily be better, but for me it's a non issue as i said due to the games i play. the control overall is still the most solid in the market and i don't think we will see a more comfortable control in our lifetime anyway :p

other than the few annoyances that come with wear and tear sticks becoming loose etc etc (when i play GTA my character walks in circles lol with an old controller) we shall see what the 720 has to offer i'll be surprised and upset a bit if it's changed in a dramatic way though

Toss up between Saturn and Gamecube for me.

Love the dpad and 6 face buttons on Saturn, great for FPS like Duke Nukem 3D and Exhumed. But the Gamecube pad... it's so comfy! I can't decide! xD

Surprised to see no love for the n64 controller, I thought people loved that controller. I personally don't though.

My favourite is the dreamcast pad.
