330i are going for pennys with low mileage.

What kind of bills can these throw?

Unless you blow the engine up entirely or you have an autobox that fails there are no 4 figure bills left on an E46 330i. There are plenty of niggly things that will over time add up to big money but massive-bill-shock is not much of a risk. It's still not cheap, 4 decent tyres for a Sport is circa £700 (No, Falken doesnt count), but it's not going to bankrupt you like say a £4k Mercedes CL might.

Bushes and suspension arms normally will require replacing before ~80,000 miles, a common fault with E46's.

Decent tyres can be had around £450 for a set of 17's or £600< for 18's. Some M54's drink oil (mine doesn't have this issue).

Even things like an almost complete aircon system overhaul (using reconditioned parts) only ran me into the hundreds (circa £400 I believe) on my 330d, and that was 4 years ago!

Well I purchased one on Sunday, not going to be everyones tastes and I'm not too keen on the skirts myself but the respray is superb and overall condition fantastic with full BMW service history, 155k miles.

Bought it outside of the auction too and it reached £3600 so had it for a good price.

You've got a bulb out :p

Looks nice though. You need to get original skirts on it though.

I was thinking about changing my black gloss trim to silver to match the paint. Keep umming and ahhing over it.

Well spotted :p

I know the skirts do let it down, these are bonded on though so not an easy swop over unfortunately. They just don't look right at the moment, still debating what to do about them.

Idle seems a bit low as well. Try turning your air con on and see if that picks it up.

Bonded? I would find out what it was bonded with and find the related solvent! New skirts wouldn't be hard to find.

Look at how they join on past the door, they're not clip on ones, fairly big job to do it. Not just a case of spraying some originals in white and swopping them over, these were done when the car went in for the full respray.

Will check that thanks.

Loving the car so far though, engine is very impressive, can slip it into 5th at 30mph easily and it pulls well throughout the rev range on a more "spirited" drive. MPG isn't the best though, can just about make 30mpg on my 13 mile commute with a very light right foot and 50mpg cruise on the motorway stretch, average 20mpg on the way back due to more stop start with the traffic.

You may as well give Royal Steering Wheels a call and arrange that wheel to be chunkied up a bit! nothing worse than a thin steering wheel. It won't cost the Earth either, £105 for a re-trim.
