Google I/O 2013

I have the same, and have tried a US proxy to see if I can enable it. However predictably once you connect with a US proxy you need a US registered credit card to get access.

Yep just tried to get onto it but no way of paying for it :(

Wut when did Google Books start supporting uploads (PDF, EPUB) - is that new? :p

On Google Play:
  • Keep up to 1,000 EPUB or PDF files in Google Play for free.
  • Upload from your computer or import from Google Drive.
  • Read anywhere: in the web browser, on Android phones and tablets, or with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
  • Page position, bookmarks, and notes are synced to the cloud, so you can pick up reading where you left off.
Nice!

Make sure you have the appropriate rights to the uploaded content.
Just like all those Mp3s you have on Google Music - be good now!

It hasn't been confirmed if the GS 4 nexus will be using the snapdragon chipset yet (AFAIK anyway), there is a small chance that it could be the exynos version (the Korean version supports LTE).

I'll be shocked if it isn't the snapdragon version though...

99.99999999999999 % It will be Snapdragon :p

Regarding the stock android GS 4:

Unless you have the i9500 version I don't see why this would be depressing. AOSP By google means devs will have the sources needed to build a perfect CM 10.1 & AOKP rom.

No confirmation of AOSP support yet. Just stock Android. There is a difference (see the I/O Tab 10.1 - stock Android but not AOSP.)

If it's Snapdragon, AOSP support will be nice but not critical thanks to CAF. If it's Exynos, AOSP support will be a gamechanger.

Can someone explain what the difference is?

Guessing that it is pretty important??? At least when it comes to getting the latest update quickly without bugs/niggles anyway??

AOSP means all necessary hardware firmware and drivers are made freely available for developers. Stock android means just vanilla android is installed with no support for development.

You often see ROMs on xda largely working but without support for FM radio or the front camera etc etc. This is because the code that drives those pieces of hardware is not open. AOSP makes those pieces of code available.

Edit: this is also why an AOSP S4 is not necessarily the source of all solutions for other s4s. This s4 might have slightly different parts used.

Just finished watching the whole thing - I thought that Larry Pages little speech at the end was a little depressing - but I was blown away by the progress they are making with Google Maps.

If Google+ actually took off and it used peoples pictures, you could literally use the worlds population to make an interactive 3D map of every space of the world :p It's no longer a matter of if, but when. Very exciting stuff :)

I thought it was nice to hear Page talk about how businesses/corporations should be working together better. The patent lawsuits ruin progression, so I totally agree.

Hey,

I missed the first hour of the keynote - is Google Games actually going to be an app like Apple's Game Centre, or is it just the backend for game save syncing etc?

If it's an app, when can we get it?? :D

Cheers,

Su

It's a bunch of backend API's that allow developers to much more easily add things like multiplayer, world leaderboards, achievements and cloud saving. No app I'm afraid. :)

I am a bit confused. Will the s4 with stock android have the SD card ?
If this forces Google to fix sd cards being the <John Snow> child of storage for once and for all I welcome it. Infact, I want to see how they clear this up and hope they don't just do the usual ignore and slap it in a nested folder crap.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Google play music has gone all funky white I HATE! :(

It can't even redeem itself by giving me free musics! :D
