Hi I've spec'd this rig and I'm going forward with this build (I know haswell is coming but it doesn't look like a vast improvement, I might change sockets on the next chip if it's major). Just looking for some views on this build. My budget is 2k but that's with OS, mouse, keyboard, headset and speakers so the budget for the actual rig and monitor is floating around £1700. Any advice would be sweet.

Thanks guys! :)

Do you want to go crossfire in the future? I saw the 850W PSU.

For 2k you can probably do a full water cooled setup, the bundle can be better chosen with your own chip, motherboard and heatsink.

The spec looks good, but i would probably change the monitor out for a 120hz instead.

That being said what do you plan to do with it? just gaming or some video editing etc?

If your only gaming and looking to swap the motherboard and cpu to the new chip on your next upgrade then i'd probably get an i5 and something like a Z77-d3h which will save you a fair bit.

For the extra £20 it will be worth it.

Yeah I was thinking of crossfire in the future so I went with 850W. I went with the bundle mostly for the overclocking. I've fiddled with systems in the past and can sort of fumble my way around but I'm a bit of a novice and I've not done a lot with computers in a good couple years

edit: I did mean the novice bit with regards to overclocking - memory timings mostly confuse me. I've built rigs in the past though

It's just a pure gaming rig :). I'm going for the 3770k hoping it should last me a few years, invest now and put off the inevitable upgrades

That monitor does look worth the extra though :)

I'm guessing the HIS will overclock to the same speeds as the sapphire even the stocks are a little lower?

Is the dell monitor really worth the extra over the 120hz acer?

That ram kit looks beasty :)

Yeah I think I might just get my reading glasses back on and clock the processor myself. I was a bit apprehensive about it but seeing how supportive the people on this forum are I think if I have any problems I'll be able to get help :)

Just a heads up, i think stu forgot to budget in a keyboard with that, so itll take it nearer 1900 total. You could probably drop down to a 7950 to bring it a little closer to the budget, there shouldn't be that much difference between the two.

You will get a bit more from the HIS, the money saved makes it worth going for.

If you will be gaming or image editing, the DELL monitor will be nice to use, it also uses a IPS panel.

I don't believe you need the two extra fans, the case comes with enough straight out of the box.

I might not use the 200mm in the top but I'd prefer to have a 140mm in the front to keep that ssd nice and chilly.

Thanks for the help guys, think I'm gonna go with the last basket I posted. Looks a bit beastier than what I started with and it's £160 cheaper!

You guys are awesome! :)
