My current radio alarm is quite a few years old and I've started to have a little look for a replacement. Now I'm thinking DAB with replace FM in the not too distant future, so have started having a little look.

What I'd like is a DAB/radio alarm but it would be nice if I could find one that also plays MP3's, but not from an I-player but a USB or some other memory device. Anyone happen to come across something that matches the bill without spending a fortune?? I've drawn a blank so far.

Cheers

My 'Bug Too' by Pure does all that (plays MP3's off an SD card). However it's rather old and probably not made any more, but I'm sure they must have radios in their current range that do the same.

Definitely try before you buy though. The interface and buttons on the Bug are clunky in the extreme and it's actually annoying to navigate the menus. Even more annoying to program. It also looks awful.

As I said though, it's very old. They must do better models these days.

I've had two Pure DAB clock radios and both have been good. They don't read from a card or anything but are nice units all the same. They have started to do some cheaper ones which aren't quite as good quality but expect the one Crestfallen is talking about is going to be a higher model any way.

I've got a clock alarm DAB radio and it's been perfect since we bought it.

It's a Pure (couldn't tell you but it's triangular)

Sounds like a Pure Chronos. I've got one but don't really use it as the sound is tinny and the steps between volume levels are too large to get an ideal volume for me. Now use a Roberts internet radio which although doesn't have DAB, has decent sound quality for a bedside radio. You can now get them with DAB which is what I'd buy if I needed one now.
