Personally i found the dreamcast controller to be the worst controller i've ever used, the layout just feels wrong to me. Worse than the n64 controller, inevitable loose analog stick issues aside.

The layout of the DC and 360 controllers are almost identical ...

Not even any grittyness in the joystick pit? They start to wear very easily because they made a small bearing and a long stick instead of the now-standard big ball and short stick.

The DS3 would be a great controller if it wasn't for none ergonomic stick placement, convex sticks, poor dead zones, spongy triggers, convex triggers, and being a little too small.

Other than that. Yeah, not bad.

Its a great pad.

I don't see any of the problems with it you have listed.

One thing I never get is why people say the Xbox pad is better because of the left thumb stick, why is it alright for one thumb to be in a low position but not both

It's NOT alright for one thumb to be in a low position, that's the whole reason why people prefer the XB360 layout, because the most common scenario is you have left thumb on the analog stick (top of pad), and the right thumb on the 4 buttons (also top of pad).

Basically what you want is thumbs resting comfortable over the most commonly used controls (left stick for movement, ABXY for actions) and then move down to the alternate control (D-pad, right stick) occasionally when required.

As for the OP it has to be the Wii motion plus controller for me.

I understand why people prefer the 360 pad's layout, but the way my hands fall naturally is either on or slightly above where the thumbsticks are on the ps3 controller, but that's just my opinion

I do think that the triggers are wrong on the ps3 controller though

I think most of the pads released over the years for various consoles have been great but if I had to pick one it would be the N64 controller.

I agree Gamecube was the best ever.

Not the most versatile because of the asymmetrical buttons which made it tricky for fighting games & tony -hawk style games.

But for action adventure the best, & the most ergonomic pad ever.

Actually, kind of think the Gamecube was my favourite console. Maybe it only had 20 great games, but they were probably better than the top 20 of any other console.

N64 pad. It revolutionized game pads. Sony welded two analogue sticks onto the bottom of its controller soon after.

The pad was compromised in many ways but it was the N64 that started the whole analogue stick. It was also the pad that made me into a southpaw!
