places to go on holiday in sept/oct/nov

Thailand.

Get over to Bangkok, cheap flight to phuket or krabi with Air Asia, then travel around the islands enjoying life as it should be. Its also cheap as chips over there, head late Oct or into November.

£3k is heaps! We went to Vegas and California for 2 weeks last sept and didn't even come close to that. We are going to Florida in 3 weeks and for Flights/Hotel/Park tickets/trip to Miami all only cost us £2700. And £700+ of that is park tickets.

hmmm, quite like the idea of america, didnt realise it was cheap to get over there?

thailand seems to be a good option to actually, lots of people i know have bin out that way (mostly work related tbh, but they still did some touristy stuff) and they said it was amazing.

i do like a nice hotel, but what ive noticed is the standard of 3* hotels in other countries usually is higher than ours here... is that the case in america?

This looks really nice actually (not very modern, but still nice), only a couple of grand too! from sept 7 to sept 21st

whats the weather like a little later on in america? November time say?

I'm not too sure about that. I have friends all over England so never really stay in hotels here.

We always go for the cheapest hotel closest to all the main attractions. Usually around a 2-3 star and we have never had a bad experience.

I would say so, were staying here for a week before going elsewhere (Tampa I think) and it's around $80 a night though I'm sure we've managed some deal on the place.

It looks cracking from the photos.

3k is not so much of flights end up being 1200. Then you have to get to the airport, parking etc, you are nearly half way through already. For Europe it's a good budget, especially if you go with Thomas Cook to Canaries or similar. The hotels might not be luxury but perfectly comfy. You could use half that and still have a great time.

I did a quick job in Tunisia last year and thought it was a great place. Very cheap too, and surprisingly boozy

£600 return each, out of season to somewhere in Europe?! Even the Canary Islands aren't going to be that expensive.

Lets put it another way, I'm looking at spending around £2k for 2 weeks skiing in the US... 1 week sat on a beach in europe is not going to be anywhere near that cost! I reckon you could do a week in a nice 4* hotel for around £600 in europe. That was my point. I agree however outside europe, say South Africa or Florida you will start getting close to that £1500 budget each (flights being around £600 return for both).

We've just booked our honeymoon in early December for 10 days in Antigua including a room upgrade in a lovely hotel with Virgin for just over £3k.

It's not cheap to get over there - but your budget of £3000 for 2 people means you don't need to be looking for 'cheap' places to go.

You could quite easily do 2 weeks in Florida with rental car and flights and food etc for £3k for two. That doesnt mean its cheap, it means your budget is not small!

I think he meant cheaper than he thought. I go to America nearly every year and people always seem to think we are spending like £5k for two of us. We only usually spend £2-£3.

When I told people we got 2 weeks in Vegas for a grand each, they were gobsmacked.

Vegas is very cheap to stay in because there are so many rooms, I think I paid about £30 a night. Quite what on earth you'd do for 2 weeks just in Vegas I've no idea, mind :p

Haha, we were only in Vegas for 7 nights. Went to California for a few days and then Grand Canyon and a day/night horse riding in the desert.

I was bored of Vegas after like 2 nights.

Cape Verde will be 22-27 or so according to a quick Google. Not much there but the large all inclusive resorts should be good!

I'm going there Wednesday for a nice lazy week :-D can't wait

I go to Turkey every year in September (as well as July and sometimes June) and we have always had great weather in September.

Occasionally you get a brief thunderstorm but they pass quickly and dry up in no time.

Last year September was in mid 30's centigrade

I'm always amazed people go to the same place every year, doesn't it get old? Are the people that go to the same place every year also the same people that insist on eating British food and none of that foreign muck abroad?

Not saying it is the case, but seeing if there is a correlation. Of course if you own property where you are going then its understandable.

Is the case in some people I know. They go to Ibiza every year and eat fish and chips.

I love the thrill of finding new places and trying new things. Things get old too quickly for me.

What about Cyprus. September is usually 35 degrees, October should be around 30+.

Great beaches, great food, a lot of sightseeing.
