** Star Trek Into Darkness **Spoilers!!**

This is the review that sums it up for me:

Saw the film the other day and this review is pretty much spot on.

I didn't mind the fact that Kirk's and Spock's roles were reversed from the original, but the scene with Kirk dying just had no meaning compared with the scene from Wrath of Khan.

The deus ex machina of Khan's blood to save Kirk was far too obvious as well.

New Spock talking to old Spock was stupid too. Oh, I've promised not to tell you anything about the future, but because Khan is so dangerous I'll make an exception and give you the necessary information to defeat him.

Lol just got back from a 3d screening of this and after reading that review it basically is spot on and there is nothing really to add.

it was obvious, hole ridden but i still enjoyed it...If you are a total trekie it will bring you to tears some of the "twists" but if you have never seen the old films like someone i saw it with its an ok film, its watchable its fast paced for the most part.

Dont see it in 3D... it seems 3d just makes a movie have "cool" looking credits these days. The action scenes were very blurry for me and the almost spoiled.

I am a bit of a trekie myself, not so much the original cast but i wasn't offended by this film, it made me smile a bit to see the roles reversed at the end.

i hope he next one is just a war/action film but if they follow the old films... a remake of 4 would be a funny 80s movie. 3 would beat snooze fest.

I like the new film, but after watching TWOK again this weekend I have to say that it ****es all over trek2013. yeh It might not have the fancy cgi , or ass kicking scenes but its story is pure and entertaining and much more memorable as a result.

I saw this on Saturday and thought it was fantastic. The characters are spot on in my opinion and Bones is superb!

Indeed. I don't often break out this old gem, but:

"They don't make em like they used to" :D

CGI and constant action can't make up for great dialogue and dramatic tension.

:D

Can't wait for the Into Darkness one.

Awesome! haha!

I read the review someone linked to earlier on and one thing caught my eye...

"It feels like the filmmakers think so little of STAR TREK and the fans; that all we want to see are the same stories over and over"

Surely this can be said for any and all reboots?

Totally agree. I actually think the casting is pretty good for the main characters, especially Bones.

I thought that Cumberbatch as Khan was a bit odd though (he doesn't look superhuman at all, more like a lanky teenager, especially when he's running).

One other thing, why isn't there some sort of hazmat suit for Kirk to put on? I know he's in a hurry and all, but this is set well in the future. Surely they should have an advanced hazmat suit of some kind sitting next to the entrance to the reactor in case anyone needs to do any repairs or such...

Saw it yesterday!...

Being an Old School Trek Nerd, Yes there were Plot Holes, Yes there were Inconsistencies, Yes there were 'Cringworthy' bits...

But I'll give it a 9.9/10

To answer a few of the points from you lot (in my opinion only)

Nero Changed everything!!
1, Kirk will be a different person all together!, Imagine Growing up all your life with a Great Friend, a Mentor, a massive influence on every second of your life! - Your Dad! Kirk had a fantastic relationship with his Dad in the original time line, he was the reason he entered Star Fleet, Okay Kirk was still a slightly egotistical control freak but he knew how to take command perfectly, never second guessing himself etc.. Now take that Influence away and have you life controlled by an Emotionally crippled Mother who just wants to protect you, and smother you, and you'll probly turn out a little different!

2, Spok Explained why he's different!, Imagine watching your Entire planet being destroyed and every person (bar 10,000ish) wiped out in a split second, and Your Mum die in front of you! I'm not sure you'd be the same person you were before that event!, You'd question yourself at every move!! and Controlling you Temper (especially as you'r only half Vulcan) well I'm not sure I could!!.

3, Onto Earths Defences - I reckon Admiral Marcus told Star Fleet to 'Stand Down' or summut! he was the Bossman!!,
But Earths Defences have always been a joke!, In Best of Both Worlds, Apart from the Battle at Wolf359, Once the Borg Cube broke through to Earth there was only 3 Defensive ships attempting to hold them back as they passed Mars! Ve'ger in The Motion Picture, The Probe in Voyage Home all got past to earth without any interference!!

Looking forward the the Next in a couple of years!!
