I say new because its a new mobo and CPU. I got the motherboard quite a while back and finally got a 3770K literally last week. After putting them together, it won't start up.
Forgot to mention its a Sabertooth Z77. The green light is on and I've even tried to run just the ram and memory on its box but it just won't start up. Any thought or am I just screwed over with a wasted board and CPU.

As Stas823 mentions check you have the 8 pin connected and the main 24 pin ATX as well.

Also try a CMOS reset.

Have both those plugged in. Taken the battery out, reset the CMOS. Taken it out to see if there are any shorts in the case causing it.
I'll test the PSU and get back to you.

Both power connections connected to the GPU, Also try without gpu connected and try onboard GPU.

Another one to check is for bent pins on the cpu socket.

I've made sure every connection is in. From the past, I have never left one out and it still seems like I haven't. I've tried using my 7950 which works, a 680 and well I can't try the iGPU as the mobo won't even start.
I've tried a 750W unbranded PSU which has been in my 10 year old XPS 630i and is still working. I've also tried a Corsair TX850 which is working as well.
Looks like I'm out of luck. Didn't use a grounding strap which may be why, even though I grounded myself from the PSU and case interior.
Bought the motherboard new from eBay a while ago so no luck of getting that returned. Bought the CPU new from a well known UK retailer and they're rules are to only return items that are unopened.
Well ****ed off as I literally got the 3770K last week as I had the mobo lying around. Shoulda just gone to Haswell...

There had been several times that i had taken my CPU out to apply new paste/ replace cooler and it wouldnt start again, and i had to re-seat the CPU with the cooler to make sure that the cooler is on it properly, also do you have the CPU fan plugged into the right connector?

Definitely got the CPU in correctly. Only using the stock cooler so I cant see me getting that wrong either.
Fans plugged into the right socket but surely that can go in any PWM socket?

Either way, Im completely clueless on what to do now. Full time student and I have some high end components on my desk gathering dust now.

No bent pins, looks flawless.
The only sign of life is the green power LED which is on. Whatever I do, try to start the mobo with a switch, short the power pins, nothing happens. Just stays there as though its idle.
Problem is it just wont start. Not talking about it not posting. No sign of life is in the board apart from the green LED.

I would have though so too, but when it doesn't detect them in the specific fan socket it just doesnt even start (kind of makes sense too), try re-seating the CPU and that it is in the fan is in the socket that is CPU_FAN and not CPU_OPT. Also do you have the bios chip inside the tiny slot (just above the lowest PCIE slot, if its from E-bay it could have been removed for unknown reasons.

Just took off the battery and replaced it with a 100% working one. No luck.
Reseated the CPU again and checked the cooler is in CPU_FAN and still no luck.
BIOS chip is there as well.
Ill test out the CPU on a rig tomorrow. Right now, it looks like I've lost a component. Hopefully it's not the CPU.

Even with a faulty CPU it would still make atleast the GPU fans spin and the red LED for the cpu would come up, it sounds like you had won a dead motherboard.

Just out of interest did you get the board about 3 weeks ago? i think i had seen a faulty one on Ebay being sold then.

Does it POST?

If not unplug and remove everything you can. Just the Motherboard, CPU, and memory.

Just to see if it turns the power supply on and tries to get to POST
try with your alternative power supply als. I had a similar problem with another computer recently, It would not turn on at all, turned out to be a blown PSU.

Not trying to be rude but have you read the posts?
My mobo doesnt power up so it does not post.
I have removed everything and left only the CPU and memory in and nothing happens. Only sign of life is the green LED.
Power supplies are working.
Ill be testing the CPU in a another rig to see if its the mobos problem.

Haha, made that mistake once but its in the right way. Hopefully the CPU is DOA so i can get a replacement. Got it from here!
