Hello all.

I'm looking to get a cheap 32" TV for now which will then be moved to spare/man room later in the year when we can afford a decent sized TV for the sitting room.

I can get this LG 32LM620S 32" LED for £340 new which seems like a decent TV for the money but im no expert. I will be in Germany being able to buy it tax free so I will happily consider any other 32" TV's that are better for around 450 euros.

3D not essential but would like to be able to stream movies etc to it via my NAS so smart is a must.

I know its small but its going to be used in a bedroom in a few months. Also can you recommend a 40" smart tv thats as good or better than the LG above for around £400?

I know you like your Panasonic plasmas but have you read his post?
That Panasonic isn't smart enabled, it can't do streaming, it doesn't have 3D it isn't full HD, it has only 2 HDMi inputs, it doesn't have building wifi, it doesn't even have wifi with dongle. It also seems to use an incredible amount of power for what is a low end TV.

What you have linked looks reasonable OP, but for some reason seems only available in Portugal?
Will you use it in Germany, or use it in the UK.
You need to ensure the built in freeview HD tuner is suitable for the region you will be using it in.

Thanks for suggestion.

Very have a fantastic 32" Samsung LED smart tv on offer at the moment for £249 it gets great reviews :)

Will check that out now thanks. Is it actually smart as cant see it mention that?

They have one I linked on amazon in Germany so should be fine but happy to spend less if needed. I plan to get a GT50 panny in a few months unless something better comes along by then.

What is it supposed to be replaced by?

the 2013 panasonic range ;).

new models are released every year around summer time.

the GT50 is a 2012 model.

model numbers are usually like this for plasma's:

TX-P50GT50B

the first 50 refers to the size of screen (50 inches)

the GT is the model (X,UT,ST,GT,VT and ZT are the models in that order from lowest to highest)

the second 50 refers to the revision/year (10,20,30,50,60 and 65)

next years models the 2014 range will most likely be named 70 or 75 so next year you could see something like this

TX-P60GT70B

so a 60 inch GT model which is the 70 revision.

but for now the GT60 is the 2013 model and GT50 is EOL 2012 model, like the GT60 will be this time next year.

The LG TV's have WEIRD looking motion and also bad contrast ratio. You could get much better if you spend £400

Hmmm well Samsung and Sony are usually decent but they vary depending on model and it is a bit of a gamble if you will get a good panel or one with backlight bleed, clouding etc.

I think you could get a Samsung 50" plasma for about £450 or if you want a LED I would recommend Sony... Hard to recommend because they change every year and sometimes one model is made by a brand or outsourced to another manufactuere.

the best thing to do would be buy a GT50 on a credit card and pay it off within a month or two.

then next year buy the GT60 when it is half price and move the GT50 to the bedroom.

tv's generally drop on price very very slowly until the new models are released then they drop drastically.

e.g. the GT50 was £1400 @ launch, within 3 months it dropped to £1200, fast forward another 6 months and it has dropped to £900, then finally down to £700-£800 before it finally sells out.

so the best time to buy a tv is when it has become EOL, the GT50 is a £1400 tv available for £800 or less. the fact you need to spend £2K to get a comparable LED tv is proof of this.

I have the 47'' version of the LG your looking at, and its great, went from a pana 42 plasma, and tbh, there is a little bit of difference but nothing i'd be worried about.

Also the LG has Plex built in, so for streaming its very good, set up Plex on the NAS and you will get all the info for each movie.
