right, basically i'm debating between going for a new case [NZXT h630 hmmm :p ] or going for a new cooler/psu

however, there are these going cheap atm: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-035-OC&groupid=701&catid=2104

so I have 2 quick questions:
1. are they any good? I believe they're cheap because they're stock that was found in the back of the warehouse or something like that. there's no gremlins to be aware of?

2. [sounds noobish I know] will I need to go for a full blown re-install of windows because guess which idiot has 'temporarily misplaced' his windows box/disc

i'm kinda thinking of these because i'm systematically changing every noisy part of my pc and a WD caviar black whilst good is damn noisy. any help would be appreciated, if its good I might just jump on the ssd bandwagon quicker than I expected

1. They're an OK SSD for the price, not great but an upgrade from a mech drive.. much better availble for not much more.
2. Yes :)

I think there is a way to move to SSD without having to reinstall. You have to fiddle in the registry to get it running with AHCI, but by all means its a lot better to do a fresh install.
There is a decent guide in one thread if i find it. However it may be a pain if your C: drive is larger than the 100GB SSD you're moving on to.

As long as you have your product key (use belarc adviser or something to get it), you could always borrow a disk from someone if they have one.

As for the speed of things, i have a relatively cheap drive. A sandisk 120GB which i got for £50. I definitely felt a big boot time improvement even without the greatest of transfer speeds.

Im not sure how difficult it is to get hold of a disk, but the product key itself is the expensive bit. I know you can download disk images of it, but since Microsoft don't have any download links themselves, most sources may be a bit dodgy. I think you can also get a new disk from microsoft, but you will have to pay a couple of quid for it.

This link may be ok. (if it is win7 you have)
