Mammoth find: Preserved Ice Age giant found with flowing blood in Siberia

There is no reason, at all, it would bring new desieses with it. It would need to live in a clean room though, as it would have no defences of its own.

I disagree, the reported existence of what is the unique find of intact soft tissue would at least indicate the possibility (almost all other Mammoth findings have either been fossilised or their DNA and soft tissue was destroyed by temperature). Beside I was really referring to the effect its physiology may have on extant microbes and viruses if it were cloned from such tissues. You could keep it in a clean room, but that would pose some logistical and infrastructure problems and would be remarkably expensive for such a large and powerful animal.

We simply do not know and we have to evaluate whether the benefits outweigh the risks involved as well as the moral implications of cloning.
