Official Haswell review thread

I think it's the only thing worth considering atm. Anyone building new and on a budget, the Intel core i7 4820K and a X79 mobo is easily the best option.. Either that or wait for AMD to drop SR.

Would you say wait until Sept to build an ivybridge e or but a 3930 now and upgrade later?

I'll wait for some more comprehensive oc reviews but this is pushing me towards a 3930k system i can't really afford.
Do any of the tests say if they tested with the IGP enabled/disabled?

From i7 920 Haswell looks tempting as a new toy to play with, but the next proper upgrade will be something on x99 with DDR4 for me. Was considering x79 too, but I think it's to late in its life cycle to jump on board with now.

If DDR4 is making a desktop debut with Haswell-E as rumoured, then it could be X89.

If you had got an i7 3930k when they came out it might have cost you around £450 but it has outlived/outperformed the 2600/2700k, 3770k and you can put the 4770k on that list as well.

If you allow for the hassle/cost of upgrading the quad cores listed above it is starting to make the 3930k look like a bargain.

Not to forget that Ivy-E will be a drop in to existing mobos, 17 months old and my system is still current, Im more than happy with it

yeah coollaboratory liquid pro,but it can't be used on aluminium as it corrodes it,copper or nickel plated is fine

I used mx4 first and saw no change in temps whatsoever, used the liquid pro and saw a 20c drop in temps

just cut one corner and insert a thin piece if plastic to cut the rest, plastic wont cut the cpu printed circuit board like a metal blade would
