Hi i just received my new sapphire OC boost 7970 today from Overclockers installed it and as soon as my pc boots into windows i get like hundreds of little blue pixels all over the screen.
Then screen goes off with lines horizontally across the screen.
I used driver cleaner in safe mode and tried to install the new drivers but the installation fails, ive tried a fresh install of windows but its still the same. I made sure the card was pushed in the motherboard correctly and both 8 pin connectors were pushed in. I put my old 5870 back in and its perfect.

Power supply is a Corsair 750tx and it powered my 2 5870 ok, picture of the corruption below.

is the card faulty thanks....TOL

I presume the bios screen is okay and you can see the install screen okay when re-install windows.

Lots of little dots is quite often ram. Perhaps the card can't cope with its lowest power state. (clutching at straws).

The driver installation fails when you reboot?

Mobo bios up to date? (if you can get to windows okay; it shouldn't be a problem).

Hi when i go into windows with the default resolution 800x600 its ok but as soon as i try to turn the resolution up to 1920x1200 i get the screen above.

i have now put my 2 5870 back in and they are running flawlessly.

Also the card looks a little bent towards the power socket end.

Hi my motherboard is an asus p8p67 with a i7 2600k and its still got the original bios on.
Ive just tried it im my mates pc same chipset but his motherbourd is the sabertooth, but he uses a hdmi to his tv and the card worked fine on bf3 max settings, couldn't check it with dvi. strange:(

you need to update to the latest bios, its easy with a usb memory stick and flash it from within the bios using ezflash

then it might support your new gpu:p

tried to update the bios and all im getting is image integrity check fail, it seems to be a big problem with p8p67 boards:(

It should be simple,is the Usb stick formatted to fat32? You can buy a BIOS chip and ask them to flash it to latest BIOS then pull out and push in the new bios chip, look on fleebay, but that's a last resort, try and update it yourself

sorted the bios i needed to extract the bios to the usb stick rather than just copy it over. It seemed to be ok did 7 boot ups and on the 8th the screen was corrupted again. but it is a lot better.

Good morning, thanks for all your help guys it seems to be mostly sorted now but im still not convinced the card is ok.

The over boost doesn't seem to be working but i believe that is a sapphire bios problem which can be resolved with a graphics bios update. Does this card have duel bios chips? dont want to brick the card.

When i was running some bench marks last night the card was making some pretty loud screaming noises especially on the 2d screens, will this go away in time?

Thanks again TOL

Sounds like graphics whine at the end there if your not happy send it back you should never settle when it comes to spending your hard earned money.

yeah it should have a bios switch near the crossfire bridge contacts

and slight whine is normal esp in benchmarks where the frames per sec are very high ect

Ok an update... this problem still isn't fixed ive tried swithching the bios switch to 2 still the same when it does boot into windows i get artifacts flashing across my screen until i lower the resolution and when i put it back to 1920x1200 its ok.

I played BF3 for 4 hours last night no probs.

Think its RMA time, here is a video of the pc booting up notice the pixelation towards the top of the screen before window tries to boot to desktop.

I would definitely RMA the card if you are not 100% happy. These things are not cheap. Hope you get it sorted soon

RMA'D the card and the new card is running fantastic with no issues.

1st class service from Overclockers and i got another bag of Haribo too.
