anything positive about Haswell

i benched many games myself and in some older games not much difference but in modernish games that need cpu power can be massive performance gains.

skyrim does indeed take advantage of fast cpus.

my cpu didn't even bother clocking upto 4ghz :D

oh crap I think vsync was on! (60.1fps and 64% gpu usage) definitely gained 10fps (if all my mods loaded hmm) let me go check if vsync was on for some reason

Hmm all my skyrim mods have disappeared from their directory I think steam reset my skyrim when one of the expansions I didnt buy came out because I remember it dloading Gb's of skyrim and I cant even remember what mods I had now so theres no way for me to do aan accurate comparison

LOL okay,, i visited the steam workshop page and as soon as I did skyrim just started downloading a bunch of data , I'm still subscribed to the mods so god knows what happened with my skyrim install

BTW if anyones wondering how I added cpu stats to afterburner then I'm running hwinfo64 is "sensor only mode"
you set them up like this

note the "riva tuner" section you just click show and select a colum and a row for whatever sensors you want displayed via afterburner/rivatuner, have a game running whilst you do it so you can see where abouts they show up on afterburner/rivatuners on screen overlay

EDUT: I give up on skyrim I cant get ENB to work... (oh wait afterburners OSD stops ENB working I think?)

Pcars 63 cars , wet weather etc , ds4x AA , probably one of the more cpu demanding pc games seeing as theres all the physics crap going on.

The font loks different because I had to change my afterburner settings to get it to show up in dx11
0 cores at 100% usage hammered my fps though to 17.4 with so many cars @ ds4x :D

As far as I'm concerned only games that can only use 1-2 cores will be core limited and show a difference because of the more efficient single thread performance compared to phenom2's but most intel generations had really good single thread performance anyway compared to amd?

It's probably not worth upgrading to haswell for anyone with at least an i7 920 if all they do is game

skyrim can be upto 50 fps different from a i7 920

arma 2 can be nearly double the minimum fps

so as said if you play cpu demanding games you can see massive increases.
 
well I'm not seeing it in games that multicore well in the first play, maybe 5-10% difference at best.

games that can only use 1-2 cores see a huge difference but only because my 1055t had really weak single threaded performance but in games that can spread cores it was fine.

as I said for cinebench 11.5
6.73 with a 4670k @4 ghz
5 with x6 1055t @ stock

1.73 difference.

Where as I'm sure if I ran cinebench on one thread only then the 4670k would be about twice as fast on one core than a 1055t would be

With my Q9650@4Ghz CB score is 3.92 so 4670k is around 70% faster clock for clock. I guess this would be about right.

AMD FX8350 @ 4.6GHz = 7.86 pts
AMD FX8350 @ 4.8GHz = 8.03 pts
AMD FX8350 @ 5GHz = 8.33 pts

8 cores though I'd imagine for gaming it wouldn't be as good clock for clock.
I'm guessing half the performance core for core

It's not like I'm an intel fanboy, ths is my first intel cpu since pentium 3 633mhz which was my very first cpu :)

It's actually scary how little I have ever upgraded :S
