Hi i am building a gaming machine and wondering if 600watt be ok for my build. I5 3570k may overclock to 4.0ghz, asus p977 v lx, gtx660, g skill 8gb ram, 1tb hardrive.and other usal stuff .

Definitely. Even the rig in my sig only draws around 500w under load (with everything at stock). Your rig will run comfortably on 600w. Just make sure to get a quality supply that can actually provide what it says on the box.

600W is more than enough for your build. Like others have said buy a quality PSU from a good known brand. I recommend Seasonic if you can budget for it!

you can mention brands just not competitor shops. The hyper 212 is a decent cooler if you already own it. If you are buying a new one then there are better options out there.

I have about £750 and must include everthing from monitor to windows, including wirlesss card. The wife also needs to use it,so basically a family pc but able to run FSx on high to ultra settings

FSX does favour Nvidia fella so the 660 kind of makes sense. That's a tough budget for what you are asking, you should consider using the windows 8 Enterprise (evaluation) Edition for free on a 3 month trial. This gives you £80 back now to put into parts. Windows 8.1 will be a service pack of sorts and it will add back the start menu, it too should get a preview to try out. You can then buy an OS later in the year having made an informed decision.

It's more expensive fella and the Haswell CPU comes with a game too.

The Z77-D3H is better than the Asus LX. Ok the Z87 mobo is a little more expensive but does come with a pretty decent cooler so you could overclock

i would prefer windows 7,and as newbie i would prefer a disc to put in and instill

You can download the iso file of Win8 and burn it to disk to install it that way. If you want the windows 7 OS now you need to part with £80 that eats into your budget

thanks honosuseri and others for your help

No worries fella. Remember these CPU have integrated graphics, Haswell as an improved IGP. If you are struggling to get what you want to the budget you could drop out the GPU for now and look to add one in later or search for a 2nd hand bargain.
