Which Ultrabook?

Would have jumped on one of these myself, the only thing was the trackpad which I kept reading was a bit of nightmare. Such a shame for a really nice ultrabook, has everything else going for it. Hopefully Dell will switch back to Synaptics.

Got mine yesterday and its epic. A completely different level from my Samsung 530u - a bargain and that screen is beautiful.

Got mine for 608 delivered from the outlet.

Was this with a 128 or 256 SSD?

Its the 128 SSD. Even with all my apps, Office 2010 and the full Adobe 5.5 creative suite I'm still only using 60GB.

All my data is on my server so I just use it as a design work station. The bloody thing flies too! From cold boot I'm at the login screen in just a few seconds.

Even coping well with Windows 8 too!

Bump.

So, following the release of Haswell processors, anyone spotted any decent ultrabooks? ;P

I have also been eyeing up Clevo's W110ER (and the multiple re-brands that use the same chassis; Xplorer X1M etc.). For around £800 I can configure this '11.6" Inferno' to be pretty beasty. For the same price, I can't seem to get anything even close power-wise in terms of an ultrabook (or am I just blind?)

Grrrr, i been checking outlet every day twice a day, how did you manage to get one.

More alarming is I can't even find a brand new one with 1080 screen on the dell uk site either

I wouldn't buy new not with Haswell about but I seem to never be able to search for 1080 screen ultra books. Clearly I'm rubbish haha

If a 256gb 1080 came up on outlet I'd have it though

I bought an XPS 13 (i5, 128GB SSD, Intel HD 4000 gfx) but was a little disappointed with the gaming peformance. This was intended to replace my desktop PC, but I did have overly high expectations!

I've since bought an XPS 14 (i5, 500GB, Nvidia 630m) and am now over the moon - it's a beautiful piece of kit and so much better at games. It's exactly twice as fast the as XPS 13.

Will be selling the XPS 13 to a friend for a bargain price, so they'll be happy too.

:D

Battery life leaves something to be desired, but it's mainly intended as a desktop replacement and I'm regularly within reach of an outlet, so no problems. (Currently in Heathrow T1 BA lounge with wifi and power outlets for example).

How was the heat on the xps13?

I have read they can get quite hot..

No idea really - I didn't monitor it.

It never bothered me though.

The XPS 14 is pretty toasty though and fairly "breezy" when playing games! To be expected for a laptop though - I might reapply the TIM and see if it makes a difference to temps.
