iRacing

I think the market at the mid-top wheel range, there seems to be more and more wheels being released at prices in the thousands. I agree with llama though. The T500 and TH8 Shifter sounds like the best idea for an all round package.

I started on the G27 and I moved to the T500 which is so much nicer. It doesn't use gears so you don't get the clunky clunk effect that the G27 gives. The pedals are also nicer.

That being said I do still advise people to start off cheaper and see if they stick with it. Two of us started playing iRacing. My mate has a g27 gathering dust as he gave up after a week.

My ideal set up without spending over the top would be T500 with a TH8 shifter and the Clubsport V2 pedals.

I'm saving for triple monitors first though!

Well after doing two races at Mid Ohio I haven't changed my mind, I'm still not keen.

I have to say that the rookie oval class can be proper rage inducing, there's some absolute tools driving in that series. Got taken out of first place with 4 laps left yesterday, by a driver who was at least 8 laps down. Ah well, to be expected to be honest.

Thanks all on the mx5 setup help.

Looking to replace my crappy xbox wheel and pedals as well as sort out triple monitors. Boy this could get expensive. :)

I have 3 monitors already, but the centre is a 2560 IPS and the two surrounds are crappy 1600 mode vga's. Will see if it is workable this way otherwise will be on the look out for 2 new 27 inch 1920 monitors for the surround.

Have a look at SoftTH, it works well for me and I have a 2560x1440 in the centre with two 1920x1080s at the side.

You could get a DFGT or G27 for not too expensive.

.

oh that looks good.

Would this work with the following

Centre IPS 2560x1440 max settings
Surround 1600x1050 max settings

Or would I still have to run at lowest res of 1600x1050 on all 3 monitors. If this is the case, may as well use AMD surround option eyefinity.

If SoftTH lets you use 2560 in the middle with lower res for the surround, this would be awesome.

This would all be run of a single 7990 that can support 5 monitors.

It makes the game think you have 3 identical monitors so you'll be running at 6400x1440 and just won't be able to see the bits that go above the side monitors.

Doing some reading and this SoftTH could save me a fortune of having to buy new monitors just for iRacing side views :)

Looks like I am going to have some fun getting this working.

On the plus side, my 7990 6GB card should be more than adequate to get this working.

Awesome suggestion and many many thanks

Edit : Thanks Murray, been reading some forums, amazing and perfect to enable left and right views for iRacing where it doesn't matter if it misses bits off.

Yeah it takes quite a bit of fiddling around to get it working, try to get the bottom of all 3 monitors aligned and that'll make things a lot easier. Your card will handle it easily, I'm running it on a GTX 580 1.5gb and that manges okay if I turn off the fancy shadows.

By my reckoning, you have just saved me about £500 on cheap 27 inch side monitors that support 1920 mode, now can use the 2 matched HP monitors at 1600 mode as side windows which is all you need for iRacing :D

I'd love a setup like this.

Those Simexperience kits are insane!

Did my first race just now, 8th in a Mazda cup race +11 irating - it's a start! I span off in the first lap as I was pretty tensed up but after that it all went smoothly
