**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

So you don't use Steam either I suppose? You break their ToS and get banned and you lose all access to those games as well.

I can't believe how some people are reacting to this news, it's so over the top. It's not surprising news in the slightest, and unless you're planning on modding your console or playing cracked games, you are in no danger of losing your access.

No you don't.

Valve haven't blocked installed games for ages.

They just make that money back from Microsoft by making it an Xbox 1 exclusive.

They would still be losing money though. The same number of people would buy a certain game on one system if it was multi platform or an exclusive. Even if MS paid for a game to be exclusive I very much doubt it will be as much as they'd get from people buying that game on another system.

It's a selling point as you can use Xbox Snap to watch TV while you're actually playing the game, or Skyping while watching Sky. It has more features than simply a pass through connection.

Hot lapping on Forza while watching an episode of 24 or whatever? For me that would be impossible to devote enough concentration to fully enjoy doing both of those things at once. Also, how is it any different to pressing the picture in picture button on my TV remote? What about the sound also? It's just a silly gimmick in my opinion.

Thing is though, if you are EA and believe this.

Are you going to put a copy of your game out on xbox one with lots of DRM and a copy out on PS4 with no DRM ? When you as a publisher believe its essential ?

No way is the answer. I've no idea what the DRM will be like on PS4 and XB1 games this time next year, but I bet its not what some people think it is now. This debate is going to run and run and both sides will shift their policies and ultimately meet in the middle so no publishers refuse to publish on either platform.

Doesnt sound like the COO of EA thinks that DRM is essential. Doesnt sound that cut and dry

Why is it rubbish? There is plenty of talk from journalists and insiders who have said that MS have a long term strategy that they are putting over very badly, through seriously poor communication.

Yes you go ahead and believe that.....

Anybody with an once of sense can see this is complete nonsense, and if even possibly true they would have explained that when they back tracked the first time.

They treated gamers like mugs, and are now finding out the reality that are large percentage aren't. That is the truth of the matter....

On top of all this we now find out that most of the games shown at E3 were not running on their hardware but a PC, so basically all in all we don't have a clue whether the hardware is up to the task?

This just reminds me of how amazing Kinect was supposed to me, you know the one that scanned in items, and the one you could talk to Milo through. Or should I say the one that never existed.....

Activision (The worlds biggest money grubbers.) have said they don't want it. The less used copies of COD get sold by people no longer interested in the game the less new people they can sell map packs to is how they see it.

Think about it... ACTIVISION.

Okay, fair enough. I suspect MS will end up doing something similar anyway, not that I care because if you get banned its clearly your own fault.

Nope.

You want to hope your account doesn't get hacked because that could leave you with a nice brick for quite a while.

Awww, is nasty man saying bad things against the widdle precious?

Seriously dude, chill. Up until the reveal I'd decided I was going Xbox because that's what all my mates were doing. After the reveal and all that has transpired I'm actually horrified at what the industry's trying to do to our hobby.

Microsoft or anyone who tries to do what is currently being attempted deserves all they get. People who actually try to justify this behavior, again deserve all they get also. If Sony did the same things I would in the PS4 thread whining about them also, the fact they aren't means I not, it means they get my money by default.
I think you need to grow up. Microsoft are trying something different, something they see as good for the industry. You disagree, that's your right. Time will tell whether they're right or not. How about not posting every bit of negative info you can find, and just hanging back and seeing whether time proves them or you right.

As it stands, you're just coming across like a trollish fanboy.

So you know for a fact that MS won't do anything about it? You work for them, yes?

I don't have any worries about my account getting hacked.

I am the anti fanboy of what MS are doing gotta be honest, can't help it.

LOL, "Good of the industry."

I suppose we should only post good stuff from here on in eh? Pretend this isn't happening and it'll all go away....

Current turnaround for getting your hacked account recovered is 30 days, + the time it takes for someone to review and reverse if anything fraudulent happened with the account. The people who got their account hacked weren't worried about being hacked either until it happened.

You havent got a Valve source for that because thats a surprising change, I know they dont tend to listen to players if they get banned so its interesting that policy has changed so much.

Well this is confusing as Patcher mentioned them to be most likely once Destiny is out primarily because its a MMO so their might need to be a possible change in pricing structure...

I personally wouldn't use it while playing a twitch game like that, but if I were chilling in an RPG or something, then yes I would certainly consider watching some live footy at the same time. And lots of people, myself included, don't have picture-in-picture on their TV.

Yes, good of the industry. That's their opinion obviously. Whether you agree with it or not, that's your choice. As I said, time will tell whether they're right or not. I remember Steam being roundly hated when it came out, now everyone loves it.

And I'm saying how about people like you, who are very blatantly anti-Xbox One, stay away from the thread. You don't care about it, you want it to fail horribly, and all you're doing is bringing the thread down, rather than letting the people who are interested in it talk about it and the positives we think it has. I don't see why that's so difficult a concept to grasp for you.

I think it's a shame that after waiting all these years for the new consoles to come out, the xbox thread, since e3, seems to be mainly people talking about and talking themselves into whether they can accept the restrictions the console has rather than talking about what games they are going to get etc.:(

Titanfall looks really nice but then I am a sucker for anything with mechs in it!

The restrictions are a bit "so so" for me, I game mostly on the PC and what MS are proposing is more than Steam offers so I will wait and see on what information comes out closer to launch.

If only everyone had that attitude we'd be able to spend all our time talking about games instead of arguing back and forth about the policies :)
