what I found funny was, they smashed up half of the city, but when it came to those people in that that building trying to stop Zod from killing them he nearly cried like a baby.

Then you missed the point of why he broke down. 1) Superman doesn't kill, PERIOD. But this one time he saw the Zod would never give up until everyone on earth was dead. So he was left with no other option but to do the one thing he doesn't do. It broke his heart to do it. 2) Also is the fact that he just killed that last other Kyptionian apart from himself. Killing him meant that he was now completely alone. (unless they do the Supergirl/Brianic storyline
 
Saw it last night in 3D. Went in with no expectations and not being a "Superman" fan at all tbh. Totally epic movie though.

Faora :o :cool: So good. Fight scenes were amazing. Loved Russell Crowe in it. And Kevin Costner was a pleasant surprise too; not seen him in a blockbuster for a long time!

Can't wait for the sequel.
 
Just got back from this. It was sold out!

Good idea.. Particularly how they show him with powers almost immediately, then flesh out the back story a bit etc. I thought the krypton scenes were interesting and did well to make you care about the struggle between Jor-El and Zod.

However, I think they ran out of ideas beside "punch man through building" and "spam flying punch". As someone has already commented, they could have mixed it up a bit or even delayed the main fight until absolutely necessary. Perhaps copy the story from Superman 2, where Zod wreaks havoc a bit before the battle kicks off.

Secondly, I thought Costner and Crowe were great but the bird that played Lois was poor and Lawrence Fishface seemed out of place. Cavill was perfect throughout though.

Thirdly, how come the Daily planet is even operating at the end? Didn't the neighbouring building collapse on top of all but 4 of the staff? I guess they had a big recruitment drive :p

Lastly, it was excellent and I would have loved an end-credit scene where he went back to the bar to whoop the bully, but I'll settle for the logs-in-the-truck gag.

Very enjoyable, if a little Michael Bay. 8/10.
 
Just got back from 2D showing. 3 out of 5 from me. I enjoyed it but it didn't grab me and excite me as much as Avengers Assemble or even Thor actually.

I really disliked Amy Adams as Lois Lane and particularly hated that scene where she started turning into G.I. Lane on Zod's ship. There was no sense of her being at all in awe at being on an alien craft.
 
Still not seen it yet, but did The Avengers movie invent the alien invasion genre :confused: :p don't understand why people are complaining it ripped off The Avengers to be honest.
 
Not really if the last bloke hasnt seen it. The last 'battle' pretty much is inspired/is those 2 films...

If anything the fight scenes took me back to the Justice League cartoon from the early-mid 90's, and the numerous Superman animated movies since Superman Doomsday.

If you're thinking Matrix 3/Avengers, maybe they in turn ripped off the animated movies :)

Major fan of Superman as always....



And I did like it but hated it at same time.... felt half the movie was about krypton, and no real origin story of CK erm in fact no CKish!.... just flash backs here and there. Lana on the school bus I take it ?

Felt rushed and quickly done to get to the Avengers rip off towards the end, anyone notice henry gulping before the big fight scenes or just before being interviewed by lois... Supes is not suppose to gulp he is suppose to supergulp!

Yeah as before said 33 years to learn how to fly, were they trying to copy Tom Welling...

This Superman is a very different superman he is no where as powerful, fast or strong as the other Superman versions, sorta good and bad. I feel its a nice twist on things, and we know they wanted Zod to start it off well but they could have easily used Brainiac instead.

Its a goodish start but yeah I think they should not have gone the "beat" Avengers bit towards the end. Will be interesting to see if it can make it to the next one.
 
I've been looking forward to this for a long time now, being a massive Supes fan. I feel very let down overall, it didn't feel like a Superman film. Good action I guess and plenty of it infact. It was just a bit too CGI heavy and was very hard to make out in fast paced scenes (annoying shaky cam). The story was confusing at times, flash backs and what not, also some scenes were just pointless, not forgetting some awful editing.

Main thing though that hurt was Supes was too weak and the storyline was too sci-fi.
It had its moments, but they were vastly overshadowed.

As for the score well, for me, it just doesn't work for Supes, bring the original back.

Came away feeling disappointed, I wish I didn't, being a massive fan.

Same for me. I actually watched the original a couple of days ago and its a much better story.
 
Yup same as above 2 posters thoughts... which I hinted at in my spoilers.

Only thing that may turn it a bit around is if jor el gives supermans combat and further training to unleash his true potential, maybe then we get the real superman. Still it does sorta make a twist that this superman while the most powerful thing on the planet still... is more human wait a minute that sux !

No one else notice they ripped off not only Avengers, but more so those zoom in cgi moments that BSG tv series used ? They over used it though !

Was there any end credit scenes in this superman film ? ie a dark black figure or martian manhunters green hand or brainiac bug....
 
Caught this last night with the missus and have to say compared to the original 2 Superman movies with Chris Reeve in them, this one wasnt as good but then i wasnt expecting it to be.

All in all thoroughly enjoyed the movie, thought the special effects were immense as usual. Didnt really like the fact that the movie seemed to be fragmented but i think thats probably due to the fact that ive watched too much smallville so was expecting Lex Luthor to pop up at some point. Could be that he will be in the sequel if there is one.

One thing i disliked was when Superman met his real father and learnt that he could fly, found the jittery camera was headache inducing...i hate it when the do that sort of crap in movies....for gods sake keep the ****ing camera stable you douchebags:p

Like i said all in all not a bad move, ill probably get it on blu ray when it comes out.

8/10 for me.
