Naked Rambler Jailed

As far as I understand the situation although the man was naked his behaviour is in no way sexual, it is just his personal preference to be naked.

If people want to walk around naked it wouldn't bother me in the slightest, it also wouldn't be an issue for me if my children witnessed a naked man walking through the street.

I don't disagree with you, just that to some other people it is offensive or can cause distress and alarm. It's entirely subjective and dependent on your conditioning to social norms and values.

Yes but as we all know that's a fairly poor reason to criminalize something.

Yes, spell it out for me.

Alarm, confusion, embarresment, shame even I would imagine, it would be entirely on the circumstances and impact on the witness. For a child, those sorts of events can be accutely unconfortable, or unusual, and can remove the choice of parents to introduce such issues to their child in an environment and way they want to. Etc etc.

These laws exist to protect children in the first instance.

********. These laws derive from a history of Religion having you believe the most disgusting and sinful thing to ever grace the Earth is the Human body and since it wasn't exaclty long ago that children were a mere source of slave labour and still do this day are often systematically abused by any institution they are caught up within.

All because of what? some prissy idiots think that what they are offended by should determine how everyone else should live their lives? Nobody has the right not to be offended and everyone has the right to not give a flying **** what other people are offended about.

"Won't somebody think of the children" is merely a tool to push the agenda of adults. Children aren't born with the sense that being naked is taboo, it's pushed down on them.

I don't like the assumption that no harm could be done from this.

But you're happy to assume that no harm is being done by our overreaction to stuff like this?

That's the thing with a lawful civil society, limits need to be set and some sort of moral status quo.

Is nudity such an afront to humanity? No, maybe not even to society, but I can see that it isn't quite as impact free as people seem to suggest.

Scottish laws on indecency were primarily driven towards child protection.

That would be a straw man.

Just because a child sees someone naked doesn't mean you need a conversation about babies. Sex and nakedness are not completely entwined; you can have one without the other.

When I went to a Japanese onsen and found out that you have to be naked, did I feel alarm, confusion or embarrassment? Well, perhaps a bit of embarrassment, but I got over it and I think everyone else should do the same.

I'm still not seeing any harm caused.
