ASUS Maximus VI Extreme Review

The board is excellent.

My evidence is 8 out of the 9 awards at Computex Main event OC Competition, the most prestigious OC competition was using this board. Gigabyte took the other with the OC which in its price range truly excellent.

The M6E holds 32m, Pifast, 05,06,01 world records already!!! Mine can do DDR4000 easy!!! oh and 6.7ghz CPU!! with 5.9+ Uncore. DDR3200 on AIR!!!

As Kap points out TTL kicked me off that website for showing a customer a 3930K can indeed do 2400 mhz memory stable oh and infact I also showed them 2500+ Stable.

To cancel your order of the best Z87 board at the high end is mistake!!!

So many mistakes and things overlooked in that review. At best its amateur. The problem is, any board from £120 upwards will pretty much do the same unless you actually know what your doing. Its evident here that they do not as the MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming series has been awarded so well yet its harder to overclock and requires more time messing about in the poorly constructed bios than boards such as the Z87-D3HP and other similar prices boards from Asus and Gigabyte. Even out latest employee, an ex MSI staff member would use the equivalent Asus or Gigabyte board over the MSI. At least the video isnt 2 hours long...

Looks is personal taste though!!! Some people like the gold ASUS boards some dont!! To say performance is bad is completely incorrect.

But Tom got lower voltages and higher Ghz with other boards?

So many variables effect this overclocking. Your evidence is what OC3D says about the board. My evidence is multiple world records and my own experience which is what I trust above any reviewer. I have the WR's to back up running my mouth;)

That plastic thing does look crap though :p

Agreed. I liked it better when you could just use your phone and bluetooth to do the same thing. Dunno if you can still do that with this board because most reviews are useless at telling you what features motherboards actually have these days...

Multiple world records...........ok fair enough but this is a R.O.G board which stands for republic of gamers, does a typical gamer really want to spends days and days going through all the OC settings trying to find which configuration works the best? As Tom eluded to in his video the marketing of the ROG line is confusing, are these boards aimed at overclocking enthusiasts or gamers?

I've never understood why the average gamer would go out and spend over £300 on board like this, for a long time you can get much cheaper boards which will give you the same or similar overclocks for much less money.

The only justification for buying this board is if your going for world records and plan on using plenty of LN2 but lets face facts those people are few and far between.

Formula/Hero = Gamers (Includes stuff like better Audio, network priotising, etc)
Extreme = Overclockers (Includes many more overclocking/monitoring features and more robust power delivery than other boards)

I have used 6 ROG boards, my main reason for using them was reliability. I figured if they stand up to what the pro overclockers use them for, I should have no problem with everyday use.

As to overclocking options, yes they are there if you want to use them but if you choose to leave them alone the boards are just as simple to use as any other board.
