Missing girl 15, runs off with Maths teacher.

How is being a victim her fault? The guy is now a convicted criminal and will most likely spend a long time jail for he's crimes. He used his position to gain her trust and he must have been aware of the law but still went ahead with it anyway.

This to honest, if he was worried about the girls mental health he should have got her help not played hide the sausage with her.

He betrayed his position of trust and basically abused a vulnerable girl, hope they throw the book at him.

For what?

SHE made the choice to make out with him, SHE made the choice to leave the country with him, SHE was the one that threatened suicide if she wasn't to be with him. SHE was the one that also put her family through hell as much as He did

As I said both parties are to blame in this

There does seem to be a huge disparity in sentencing when he gets 4.5 years for sex with an underage girl, who was 15 and consented (though I understand the law and thats a moot point) but Stuart Hall gets 15 months for fiddling with kids a lot younger. Somethings not right.

None of her actions were illegal though, so what exactly would we be punishing her for?

At the end of the day he was a teacher in a position of trust. If anyone else needs to take some responsibility it should be the school for their lack of action when the affair started and what seems to be a lack of safeguarding procedures.

Obviously a line has to be drawn somewhere but I can't help feeling it odd that something can go from illegal to legal in an instant depending on age.

Legally she can't consent to anything, so no she didn't have the choice, he still abused his position of power and who knows what coercion went on. If we start going down the line of punishing 15 year old victims like you suggest a lot of abused children will never come forward. I suggest you educate yourself a little on the law and the fact that this was abuse pure and simple

It would never have been legal for him even when she was 16, the sexual offences act, 2003 made it illegal for a teacher to have a relationship with a pupil under 18
